Hard disagree Jack, I think they'll like the characters right away. There's a lot of similarities to previous shows they've loved, without going into spoilers.

I don’t think they would enjoy The Sopranos. 90% of the characters are very unlikable and it’s more of dark comedy with a very cynical tone about people and life.

Love that parallel with the bpd! They established a few in the first two episodes
Think it’s fitting that these two specific institutions, ones that are supposed to work directly with people and allow them to live better lives as citizens, have so many similar problems
They probably get this kind of focus because Ed Burns worked as an officer and teacher

The man with the fishnet protecting Omar is Donnie Andrews, one of the people who was the real life inspiration for Omar
After spending most of his early life as a stick up artist struggling with addiction he turned himself in out of guilt for two murders he'd committed (also out of general guilt for how he'd negatively impacted Baltimore). Before being sentenced he worked alongside Ed Burns (one of the two head writers of The Wire who was a former cop and school teacher) wearing a wire to help the department arrest two dealers he'd been hired by
Really recommend this article about him, he gave back to the community as soon as he got out, setting up a program for at risk youth to use the arts to share their stories
Members of the cast of the show went to his wedding!

There are 13 episodes (not 12) in Season 4, so you still have 6 amazing episodes to look forward to.

“Is Sherrod OK? I hate it when people are looking for someone and can’t find them and we don’t see them” … Sherrod literally in a scene 30 seconds earlier 😂

You continue to surprise with your analysis. :)
The four actors who portrayed the kids produced phenomenal performances but I think Jermaine Crawford's as Duquan is the best.
School equipment: there's a parallel here with the BPD. In S3 Jimmy asked his FBI agent friend for equipment and discovers the police already have it as part of a federal grant. McNulty discovers the equipment gathering dust in storage - just like Prez.
Btw this season has 13 episodes, not 12.

Just FYI the very small boy who sells drugs with Naymond is Kennard. He was also the one from season 3 pretending to be Omar after the stash house shoot out.
