Hard disagree Jack, I think they'll like the characters right away. There's a lot of similarities to previous shows they've loved, without going into spoilers.

School equipment: there's a parallel here with the BPD. In S3 Jimmy asked his FBI agent friend for equipment and discovers the police already have it as part of a federal grant. McNulty discovers the equipment gathering dust in storage - just like Prez. Btw this season has 13 episodes, not 12.
