Yeah, Syd being his grounding focus amidst his panic attack was and is one of my favorite details from season 2, I mean, of the series as a whole, honestly. I don't dislike Claire but I absolutely agree with you that the show has really only told us how great she is, rather than letting us SEE it. I do feel like it's been interpreted as though she's a distraction for Carmy but in my mind, that's on Carmy, not her but we (the audience) have more reasons to care about Carmy than his girlfriend lol so she kinda drew the short straw. I just want to watch everyone's dynamic within the Bear evolve in positive ways and don't really think they need to force a romantic relationship out of anyone. Would be much more rare to see that.

As heavy as s4 of the wire has been itβs nice to see you to have some pure moments of joy reacting with this show.
yeah, molly made her debut as a director this year with theatre camp (hilarious movie, totally recommend) and ayo had a little part in it.
if you follow any of them on insta you'll see they post stories and shit together pretty frequently. ayo and rachel have been friends for years since they're both comedians and i guess rachel and molly met doing shiva baby and they just formed a group.

ok, just finished watching and first of all, the first part where you just gush over molly gordon's beauty and the superiority of taylor swift... probably one of the most relatable things you've ever done lol
knowing milena chances are she saw molly in booksmart or maybe even good boys. i mean, shiva baby has a ship but while it's a "popular" movie now i'm not sure if she'd have just randomly watched it since she says she doesn't watch a lot of movies. also, 2019 is the year she mentioned a couple times she watched a lot of movies and booksmart is from that year, so my bet is on booksmart.
look, i like claire but ngl, most of my love is just because i love molly gordon and i'd love to have her in the show for more time. other than that... it's whatever to me. i like her character and she's really nice and i think she really does care for carmy even if it's not the right time and probably for him not the right person.
i do love carm and syd and their dynamic. i do not SHIP it i woundt mind if it evolved to a romantic relationship if it's done right.
i loved natalie on my first watch but now rewatching with you two i must say my love for her is way bigger.
can't wait for the finale tbh.
have you decided what you're doing after the bear? you finally starting movies or you'll replace it with invincible s2?
i know AOT's finale is premiering in 10 days but i suppose that's just a single update.

I agree but I also think they should kiss on the mouth

I love how Claire was a source of anxiety for Carmy (which she has been this entire season honestly) through no fault of her own, but she honestly doesn't really help him she actually makes matters worse but he was able to calm himself by being reminded of the one person that never gives him anxiety, Sydney. As a black woman myself I have to say, a character like Sydney is so rare to see these days because she isn't the typical version of a black female character that is usually portrayed in media, so to watch her always puts a smile on my face, and I LOVE seeing that she is a center of calm for Carmy. Everybody and their mama literally has to say "Claire is so nice" like I could never get on board with her as a character because it always felt like the show was telling us she was great instead of showing us. Plus way too many scenes with her and Carmy just staring at each other and weird whispering, lol.

that table scene won me over towards syd carmy believers too. ive always appreciated them as a healthy platonic relationship but after that scene i definitely wouldnt mind if the writers gave us more breadcrumbs in s3. either way they choose to go id be content though

I think having soul mate platonic friendship is a lot better and something we should root for more than people getting together romantically in this day and age.

The movie that you're thinking of with Claire is "Shiva Baby" with Rachel Sennott. Rachel then did "Bottoms" with Ayo Edebiri which is another really good movie. I think the three of them are good friends so they're in each others movies all the time

Me when I'm having a panic attack and thinking about my girlfriend doesn't help but thinking about my platonic coworker Sydney pulls me out of it: π
I never saw the vision before, but this episode turned me into a die hard Sydmy shipper. Do I think it would be Good and healthy for the characters? Probably not. Would I like to see it? Yes! I don't know how to explain it but to me, Sydney and Carmy are "soulmate-coded", like some people are built to be in each other's lives in some way.
In a previous ep Carmy told Claire that the person who made the "really short pants" he drew came into his restaurants - that designer is implied to be Thom Browne, the maker of Sydney's custom chef whites. "Thom Browne Chef Whites" are not a thing, the company made these special for Carmy. I've said it before but being widely respected in the food world is a superpower that Carmy uses to benefit the people he cares about. He noticed she liked them and he got the best possible version of them made for her. It rules.
PS: Pls include Andor on the next short show poll π 12 eps of excellent character-driven sci-fi

Yeah I think I'd enjoy their platonic relationship more as those aren't that common

I agree, Nat is the most gorgeous human ever, she and Richie are my favorites. A simple thing like Nat hugging Richie was one of the highlights for me

You've mentioned wanting to start reacting to movies. After finishing The Bear, I highly recommend watching the movie "Chef" which is one of my favorite movies ever and features Oliver Platt (Uncle Jimmy).
It has similar vibes to The Bear's most heartwarming moments but with way more food porn.

Yeah Iβm on the camp that I hope they donβt ship Cam and Sydney. I feel it wouldnβt add much to the story plus I enjoy them as friends more. Plus I still feel Cam has a lot more work to do with himself and dealing with his own issues before thinking about love or having a relationship with someone.

omg, i am fucking exhausted. just came home from work and i'd love to watch this but i feel like chopping all my limbs so they'd stop hurting so much.
i actually admire carm, syd, richie and the rest because you really have to LOVE that shit to willingly work at a restaurant unless you have other options.
let me tell you... i almost walked out the door in the middle of the service today. this line of work sucks and i think it's incredible how they managed to make such a great show about it.
ps: fuck the frech... spain is not the only place to go on vacations πππ and they don't even tip
