shiva baby is way more terrifying to watch than any horror movie and funnier than most comedies. just an amazing directorial debut by emma selingman.
and it's been ages since i've last rewatched booksmart but that's probably one of the funniest movies ever and it's full of amazing actors so always nice to give it a rewatch.

Thank you for leaving that bit in at the end lmao. I see the same thumbnail as you, and it was so funny seeing how confident you were that it was Bob.

yes, sadly molly gordon's character was not very well liked but i loved her this season. i never understood why people dislike a character just because they "get in the way" of their ship. like, i'm a lesbian and i ship many characters and that doesnt make me hate the real love interest or whatever.
anyway, theatre camp (molly gordon's directorial debut) is finally streaming on hulu so if you want to see more of her and ayo before bottoms is available (22 of september if anybody is interested) you can check it out. i watched it a few hours ago and had a blast with it. molly is amazing in comedy, might just rewatch booksmart and shiva baby to enjoy her comedic timing.

This was definitely one of my favorites of this season.

I think that's an interesting read, especially when you factor in that the healthiest thing to do would have been for the bicyclist to go get checked at a hospital (treat wound, check for concussion) etc.
I unironically believe the secret to success is to fuck up over and over, and more importantly be given the space and support to fuck up without ruining your life lol. I suspect Marcus hadn't been given much room to "fuck up and learn" growing up, going college on football scholarship etc.

"How did you get good at this?"
"I made a lot of mistakes"
"That's the secret? Just fuck up?"
The bike scene to me reinforces the theme of the episode, fucking up and "getting on that bike again". After all we see Marcus making mistakes and keep trying throughout the episode until he gets it right (with Will Poulter's character fortunately not being a dick about it and actually encouraging him) and by persevering in the end we see him how happy and proud he is of what he achieved, a small step in the right direction.
That's my take anyway, could be wrong lol. Also like Lola, I could never be a pastry chef, I have a sweet tooth and I would just eat everything

This might be my 2nd fav episode of the show, though it's tough competition. Seeing Marcus, someone who we can assume may have never even travelled outside of the states, go to Copenhagen and take in so much and learn so much, it's just beautiful. When that song kicks in at the end I tear up every time (i listened to it like 100 times on spotify). From McDonalds to The Beef under Mikey to S1 to now, Marcus 1000% earned this.
Will Poulter is an inspired guest star, he fits in so well. He feels like a real pastry chef who wandered onto set. Seeing The Bear treat Copenhagen the way they've treated Chicago really made me feel like they could take the show anywhere, they earned my trust.
This is the 4th time I've seen this episode and I still don't understand the bike crash scene but I love it. I don't know if it's a deep metaphor or just something wild that happened to Marcus on his europe trip, or both? But it hits me emotionally every time. I think at least, it's an anecdote he'll tell over and over for years to come. That time he saved a drunk crashed bicyclist in denmark. A quiet human connection by the river in the dark.
(unrelated: I'll try not to be annoying about it but I still think Andor should be added to the next short show poll 😊)

Yeah, exactly what I was gonna say. Can’t wait for those two eps, but I was definitely looking forward to this one. Such a confident episode.

On Coach K, he's famous in college basketball, if you follow basketball you probably know him, but outside of the US he's quite unknown. College sports are a very US thing that doesn't garner interest outside of the country.
