2025-02-03 02:39:55 +0000 UTCOIKAWA AND IWAIZUMI CAMEO!!! <3 i had the same reaction as you guys fr LMAOO. also, the anime actually cut out a bit of shirabu's (kenjirou, the setter) backstory. he studied his ass off to pass the shiratorizawa entrance exam and he's the only one on the team without a sports scholarship, everyone else was recruited. the coach also says that in this particular shiratorizawa team a setter who stands out like Oikawa and Kageyama isn't needed (which is important to understand Semi, #3, pinch server and former setter later on), but also Shirabu isn't exactly passive in personality, he's hot headed and in play style he's steady and reliable and his ultimate goal is to make ushijima and the other spikers stand out, not stand out himself which is what the coach ultimately wanted. these details are a bit more fleshed out in the manga, and shirabu and semi get a little more elaboration regarding this particular issue and more screen time, but it's still there here and it works!

2025-02-03 01:53:06 +0000 UTCDon't get me wrong, I love Sound Euphonium with my life but if there's something in the world that's the closest to Haikyuu they should watch Run with the Wind. Also a sports anime, same studio, same OST composer, same character anime designer, and kinda similar themes, they even sneak a track from the Haikyuu OST in the show and Hinata is directly referenced. If anyone that reads this didn't watch it yet and you're a Haikyuu fan, you should do it now It'll probably never show up in a poll either tho lol. . At least Sound Euphonium is actually quite popular in the animanga community (specially when S1 came around) just not in the anime reaction community. Run with the Wind is unknown in both.

It has all the elements that you love, it's basically high school girls going through life lessons while being in a school concert band. Plus it is made by Kyoto animation the same studio that made violet. I don't think it will ever win a poll since it isn't that popular outside Japan, but I strongly recommend you to watch it in your free time.
