quick context, korea has very strict rules regarding honorifics when speaking, esp to someone who is older than you, in some sort of position of authority over you, or someone you don't know well. when these things are the case, you must talk in "formal speech," and it's extremely disrespectful to talk to an older person with "informal speech" esp if you dont know them well. so this is why the guy got so mad at geu-rami at the karaoke, cause she was using informal speech to answer him lol. if you see a character take issue/offended by what someone says for seemingly no reason in a kdrama sometimes it's cause they aren't using the proper speech etiquette
