*For anyone who has done the sync-up before or knows the best way to do it, feel free to comment to help anyone since people did seem to think it will be a bit confusing at first! Hope you guys still enjoy the watchalongs and can understand the change! We are also watching this on Netflix to clarify!!

The Glory 1x1 Reaction/Full Watchalong!

Comments

There's a reason why South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. There's a reason why bullying tropes are so common in k-dramas. It is just too sad and frustrating how this is actual based on actual events.

this episode disturbed me sm bc it was just so sad

ana

Yesss really enjoyed this when I watched can’t wait for next week

Umm Āsiyah

Do you have a pc or Mac?

rachele

How have you gotten split screen to work? Whenever I try it one of the videos pauses

Unfortunately, copyright is forcing their hand on this issue. Trust me I prefer seeing the actual visuals on screen as well. But they can't keep pushing out content because they are fighting copyright issues. Especially on foreign-made content such as this. Overseas their copyright laws are stricter and A LOT of my favorite reactor channels have been getting targeted heavily lately. A lot of channels that watch content for example like anime, the Japanese companies sometimes wait until you make a bunch of reactions THEN choose to copyright claim them all at once. Which would mean their channel would be shut down instantly if that were to happen. And they are trying to not get to that point. There was a huge case with an anime reactor that received over 100+ of their videos copyright claimed at the same time by the same overseas company. While definitely not ideal, they are trying to avoid getting to that level of being claimed, because even videos on their Patreon can get claimed before they even put it on YouTube as well.

Dead Set On Dreams

I think it's because they are watching on netflix and on netflix unfortunately you can't screen record like the screen record will only turn black

Helen H

Agreed. I wish there was a way for them to maybe at least leave the audio even if on low... because there's no way we can for sure know if we are in sync which is where it's becomes a bit difficult for us viewers.

btw the glory is based on the real life case.... :( also the real life case is even more gruesome. They have to get rid of some details from the real life case because it is too gruesome btw the teacher hitting/ hiding the case too is real too because this event happened two decades ago and back then the law is not like today and in the real case, because the bullies are rich none of them spent life in prison only few years 3-5 years and let go some of them spent even less than that. The real life victim went to jail because they tried to blow them up with a homemade bomb after planning a school reunion party

Helen H

I feel like if there having problems with copyright the only other thing they could do is put like an overlay of something over the episode or something

the show is incredible, i haven’t even gotten to ep 3 yet and i can say that lmao. that part where she was crying in front of the river really got to me, like you could realllyyy feel the hopelessness and despair in her sobs…but yeah i can’t wait to finish this show with y’all! as for the new sync up, it was surprisingly not that hard to do on mac (with pip) and imo the watchalong is actually easier to follow this way, since the show is on our end now it comes off more clearer and hd than before, can’t wait for the next ep!!🫡

Subbed to your patreon for this as I am very excited to watch The Glory with you. But I was expecting a real watch along with you guys. This sync style is not for me. I'm always half doubting if I'm watching the same scenes at the same time as you. I also prefer watching you in full screen, which I can't do because I need to keep two windows open. lt's also hard to direct my attention to you guys since I need to read the subtitles. lol. I respect your decision, but maybe there's a chance you can reconsider?

Jude Itutud

I'm always on the go and love watchalong cz it's like watching with friends and can watch a relatable scenes together, but with sync style version is a bit hassle for me as I watch thru tab mostof the time. But again I understand ur decision...

As a person who grew up & went to school in S Korea, I can attest to the hitting of students by teachers. (It is probably not allowed/practiced anymore.) Usually they even had hitting sticks for this purpose. I only went to elementary school where you get hit once or twice for simple offenses (i.e. talking in class) but my friends who went to HS says it got worse as you got older (i.e. slapping, whipping, kicking) depending on where you go to school & your treatment may vary depending on who your family is (kids from wealthy homes of course have it better!) Remember the scene in EAW when Young-Woo got slapped by the student teacher? Or Dong Geu-rami getting yanked out by her teacher from the karaoke place? Very typical behavior from adults to smack kids around in Korea. (No wonder there is such a bad bullying culture there - adults set a bad example for kids!) P.S. The Glory's screenwriter is the same person who wrote my #1 fav Kdrama ever, Goblin! Hope you watch that one day!

Hi! I agree with the comments about leaving the video playing just a bit longer so we can properly sync up. I noticed with the movie watchalongs it'd go quick and the only way I'd know if I was synced up w you guys is when we get little audio snippets here and there! It also helps bc whether buffering or for whatever reason its easy on our ends to get out of sync and if we can't consistently at least hear the audio-- it becomes more of a hassle rather than smooth. :) I hope I worded that okay! Can't wait to sync up later and hear your thoughts <3

Reagan N. S.

What a show. Rob, you’re totally right, some scenes are not easy to watch. It’s worth pushing through those scenes though, the plot is great and it really builds up tension and anticipation for part two coming out soon. The cast is just 🤌. Thanks for watching and sharing as always. 💛

Rosie

I appreciate the reply! Thanks 😊 I will stick with it.

Not much as a first ep bullying you can bear it so try to watch it

Yoona

Honestly, I have never finished watching a drama with a heavy bully plotline but I guess I will try again because everyone seems to be raving about how good this is. Can someone who has finished just tell me how much 'bullying flashbacks' there are throughout the rest of the show? Like more then in this episode or about the same in every episode? I want to watch it but it might not be for me.

hey, about to watch the full reaction but the new sync up format is no problem :) other Patreon reaction groups I'm subscribed to do the same thing. definitely understandable why you gotta a tip tho that I found helpful from other reaction groups would be to do a count down out loud starting from 5 seconds and then press play. so "we'll be pressing play in... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, play" it helps the audience a bunch w/ the sync up :) also for netflix shows, I find it annoying how their timestamp shows time remaining. most video players show elapsed time. if it's not too much, I recommend using a time remaining timer for netflix sync ups btw, I watch reactions + the show/movie using split view or split screen

rachele

If you think this wouldn't happen in real life, just know that this is from a real case. There was a case in Korea with a girl being burn with curling iron and fyi even my country Malaysia we also had one bully case where a boy at royal military school was ironed twice on his body and he ended up dying. Try search that case up it was beyond shocking to us I cried watching the news. When human are evil, they don't have even a dust of sympathy.

I’m sorry to tell u but this they do have stories of bullying with curling irons. Here’s a video of one victim coming out during a tv show it happened when she was 13 and she’s now 31. The sad thing is she’s asking advice on whether she should seek revenge and she’s actually too scared to watch the Glory. She shows her scars and they look the same. https://youtu.be/LygjxjI0vbs

Hazel

will definitely keep this in mind for future watchalongs!

Reel Time

I'm confused. I was lucky and started right when you did. With you through the intro...but then, the things you were talking about didn't sync up to what I was seeing on the screen. So I looked at the timer and got my video matched up to it and it still didn't make sense. I'm sure it's me because I don't see any one else having difficulty. It most definetely is me.

Marie Leathem

Hey! I would suggest have small clips in the middle of the full reaction so if it gets out of sync we could fix it. Also, I would have like a picture guide of who’s who when they were younger and when they’re older cause it gets confusing
