Late to this watch along and I’m looking forward to seeing more eps with y’all, but man it’s kind of disheartening to see Zuff dismiss some of the story beats meant to develop the pair’s relationship because they’re cheesy or emotional. Like, it’s a kdrama—the best way to enjoy it is to just engage with it earnestly.

Sorry My English is so bad. I'll explain the scene where Seri counts. In Korean dramas, parents usually tell their young son or daugher to count to 100 and wait in the story of parents abandoning their children. And then mom leaves their children. When Seri was alone in the market, Seri was emotional because of the trauma that her mom had abandoned her and she got lost in a foreingn land.

The moment in the market is not so much about being “touching” but rather she was lost and scared in a foreign place and having ptsd to her being left alone. Captain Ri on the other hand was just incredible worried and scared that something might happen to her and when they finally meet, the relive came to them both. They were just both very emotional.

This is only the 4th episode. You guys still hated Joon-Hyeong in Weight Lifting Fairy, at this point. You ended up loving him and his relationship with Bok Joo. Give this one time, too.
