People literally forced him out which wasn't fair at all because he himself said he was still learning about who he was and people freaked out when they saw him with a girl they believed to be his gf because they assumed he was gay and I guess thought he was somehow "queer baiting" it's just sad to have a moment like that forced out of you because people won't stop harassing you.😢

2023-03-17 11:03:19 +0000 UTCcoming back yet again to comment on why y'all have no idea who joe locke is, heartstopper was his first ever acting job! apart from kit connor, olivia colman, and sebastian croft (ben), it was everyone's first acting job which is awesome considering how well they all did on this. also yes rob, heartstopper was originally a webcomic on tumblr that came out in 2016 :)

2023-03-17 09:15:51 +0000 UTCalso fun fact, a lot of the cast are actually lgbtq+ irl! joe locke (charlie) is gay, kit connor (nick) is bi, tobie donovan (isaac) is gay, yasmin finney (elle) is trans, kizzy edgell (darcy, who i'm sure you would have met by now) is trans/non binary and queer (they said they prefer the term queer over bisexual). even alice oseman, the creator of heartstopper, uses she/they pronouns! i think it's super cool that they actually got lgbtq+ actors and producers for this rather than just getting cishet people to play all these roles, it feels so much more authentic.

I would also like to request or well recommend this other bl show, called “young royals” it’s a Swedish show , it’s a bit more intense , there’s 2 seasons (3rd season is happening) it’s about a prince finding out who he is and a student, it’s definitely very emotional (in my opinion) especially the 2nd season lol but maybe young royals could be In the polls one day !! but anyways happy you guys checked out heart stopper !!

2023-03-17 03:23:04 +0000 UTCYes! You're right Elle is trans, they mentioned in the scene during lunch that one of the teachers at the boys school refused to call her Elle and that he is transphobic. Im so glad you guys enjoyed the first episode! It was so rough watching Ben assault Charlie, Ben is disgusting and even the actor who plays him is like the #1 Ben hater. Like the show said and you guys were saying, it's perfectly ok to take your time and not come out if you aren't ready yet and still figuring things out, but the way Ben went about it was horrible and he was treating Charlie like such shit. I'm glad that although Nick is like the top dog at the school he's such a sweet person and includes Charlie in different things such as rugby. I am so excited for you guys to learn more about these characters and storylines!
