literally was crying like Bryce this episode... I've watched the therapist scene multiple times but i always just silently cry throughout it! Paul Mescal truly is a marvel - I think you guys would really enjoy his film Aftersun <3

i just noticed something and i don't know if its a coincidence or done on purpose. but when connell was walking down the street with helen when he received the text about rob being "missing" there was a sign for a tattoo shop that read "life's too short". i might be thinking too much into it but if that was done on purpose that is some insane foreshadowing.

I hate to say this, but I relate to Connell so much I feel like when he opened up to his therapist, and said all that I said almost the exact same thing to my therapist it feels good to have someone to relate too.

This episode is so powerful. What a performance- Connell’s internal struggles are so relatable to so many and I love how real the conversation he was having about it with his therapist was. This really pulls at all of the emotions.

Man Paul Mescal blew me away. He’s got such natural acting talent. He left me an emotionallywrung mess after this episode. The therapy scene was so realistic. It was nice to see mental health shown in younger men. Life is a struggle, Connell is struggling but I’m so glad he sought professional help.

Jamie

despite already having seen this series, watching bryce's reactions to this episode made me cry all over again

Man I knew this episode was coming but I was not prepared for how much I would cry watching this with you guys. You can tell from this episode that Paul Mescal’s acting career is definitely going places and I’m here for it ❤️

This is one of the best portrayals of depression and anxiety I’ve ever seen Paul really became known as an amazing actor specifically because of this scene. Also Sligo is the county and Carricklea is in Sligo and that’s the town where they’re are from

i'd also like to point out that this episode truly highlights the deeper struggles with mental health, especially in men. i know we rarely get to see men addressing their mental health in tv shows/films and it's so important that we do. i think it's hard for a lot of people to sit through some of the scenes in this episode due to the fact that a lot of us have dealt with those emotions before. like how connell was having a panic attack at the mere thought of opening the door to leave his place, i've definitely been there before as well as many other people i'm sure, and seeing it played out just hits so hard you can't help but sit in silence. i can't say it enough but the cast did exceedingly well on this, they killed it. ps ik it may not be much but if anyone else is also struggling with their mental health, there is always someone out there that you can talk to or hopefully find comfort in. you are loved, we've got this!❤️

He’d been great throughout, but Paul really knocked it out of the park in the this episode. I was so blown away by his portrayal in that last therapy scene. I had only seen this episode once during my initial watch; it broke all over again just now. And seeing Bryce in tears made me even more sad. Paul really did deserve all of the awards for that.

Cindy S.

The fact that this is Paul’s first work outside of theater is insane! He’s just perfect as Connell, specially the way even when he’s at his most vulnerable he’s still holding back and apologizing for his emotions. It genuinely feels like sometimes it pains him to speak and the truth he portrays in that is impressive to watch.
