Hi everyone, it's time to talk about my holiday plans and their effect on the page. π
After a regular update on Sunday, December 22, there won't be a story update for two weeks. This is due to both Christmas and a vacation with my wife (we generally only have one a year).
But there will be writing...sort of. I'm happy to unveil a silly undertaking: The 2025 Line Fiction Challenge!
Allow me to explain.
See, we're going to Disney World. And Disney World has a LOT of lines. And in those lines we do a LOT of waiting. And writers who have time tend to write. It's not conducive to good writing, just...writing. Last year I wrote two chapters of an Avatar fic. See? π¬
So let's have fun with it. YOU get to pick what I write this year. And since it's line fiction, let's make it weird. On December 29, a poll with highly unusual romance ideas will go live. You'll vote, and I will dutifully write something on the winning theme. A chapter, a short story, etc. And no matter how bad it is, I give my word that I'll post the results here!
The choices are pre-determined, but with one notable exception: If YOU have an m/f dynamic you've longed to see realized, pitch it in the comments below. If I think I could do it justice, I'll add it to the poll. Now is your chance!
Here are the other choices you will see on December 29:
"Swipe Might" - A contemporary with a fantasy twist. When a man accidentally(?) joins the Green Flag dating app, he pairs with an orc paramedic. She's an EMT FMC!
"Mecha Girl" - What if the FMC is the giant stompy robot? A pilot falls in love with his mech's AI.
"Blood Lover" - A man-at-arms becomes bonded with a cursed blade that turns out to be a sword girl.
I hope a few of you offer some unique pairings of your own. In the meantime, please stay safe and have a wonderful holiday season! (Unless you celebrate Festivus, in which case I hope you find it tolerable.) π
