you're so right! it was so random and I remember getting confused as to why she just started singing it at the riff off lmao.I remember not caring for it that much and just enjoyed that they included the generations of Bella's in it bc other than that there weren't any emotional ties to the song for me. also the boys are right in that DSM were not as intimidating as villains as I remember like why did I think they were better than they actually were lmao?

that's exactly it!!! it felt very "glee"

One interesting fact, the girl who plays Cynthia Rosa (Ester Dean) wrote a lot of famous songs for Rihanna and Katy Perry and other artists. one is S&M by Rihanna which she sings in the first movie in the first battle. And in the recorded album version of Rihanna the part that says " na na na com on" its actually her voice :-)

the whole premise of introducing a new song reminded me a lot of Glee, and it very much felt like a forced attempt to try and make another hit song like "Cups."

Something that caught me so off guard here were Bryce's reactions to the riff off prize(s). I almost spat out my water from laughing so much.

also i want to jump in and say i agree with bryce about the flashlight song. i didn't like it and i felt like it was so weird that they were almost pushing this "original song" idea on us. like it was weird for her to start singing it during the "riff-off" and it just felt weird to sing it in a big competition where everyone else is singing well known songs that get the audience excited. part of why i loved the ending of the first one so much was there was something really powerful about them including "don't you forget about me" with the rest of the mashups because of it's importance to the romance plot of the movie. all the songs felt like they were meant to be there and were well loved both between the bellas and the audience they were performing to. idk maybe it's just me but if i was there i'd much rather have them do a song i could get pumped and sing along to as an audience member than just some original song i'd never heard of before, didn't have context for, and not know why i should be rooting for.

Oh my gosh that was so much fun! I am equally excited to watch you guys watch The Impossible tomorrow, which will be the exact opposite of this movie, but it was so nice to have one that was just singing and laughing and having fun! (Although I have learned that if there's a chance Zuff will start singing, I need to watch it without headphones because the sudden, dramatic increase in volume WILL blow my eardrums out! Haha!) I personally rank these movies 1, 2, 3. I enjoy this one a lot, but it's definitely not as good as the 1st one. And I agree with Bryce, the flashlight song is not my favorite. I've only seen #3 once, in the theater, but I remember not liking it. So if you guys end up doing that one, I guess we'll see if I change my mind. Thanks for giving me a good laugh tonight! :)

The reaction to the first pitch perfect is my favorite reaction video, and now this one is my second favorite. I can't wait to see your reaction to the third one! And btw the Obama's footage is from the Kennedy center honors in 2013

Tanya Murphy

I’ve only seen the first one, so I’m excited to watch!

rewatching with y'all I agree with rob that I rescind my opinion of liking this second one more lmao. the first one is just so iconic and original, it is for sure the best in the trilogy. I remember enjoying the 2nd one a lot too, maybe bc it's so nostalgic to me having seen it in theaters with my high school choir group lol. every time the older generation of Bellas came on stage I would get chills it's so good!
