Excited for this! I hope you still end up reacting to Ted Lasso and The Bear as well! Incredible shows :)

Isabella

I'm surprised you guys didn't recognize Baristan Selmy from Game of Thrones. He's the grandpa.

Alice, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize if any excess use of the word has caused any offense or discomfort to you or anyone else, we certainly didn't mean to do so. Going forward we will be much more mindful of our choice of words. - Reel-Time

thank you for saying this and bringing this to their attention. i appreciate you speaking up about this

Thank you for bringing this up. And I would also like to mention something. When you call certain characters who you think are cowards or “weak” in certain shows a “pussy,” it is also misogynistic. We all know what the word pussy stands for and it is misogynistic because you are essentially using the word as an insult to someone who is not acting strong or is scared. It’s like if people called someone gay as an insult. It is just offensive in so many ways. Even if that was not the intention, that is what is implied when using the word in that context. It’s not just these guys. I know many people who say it on a daily basis. For courage, people say someone "has balls" and for weakness they say someone is a "pussy" and I just wanted to take this opportunity to bring some awareness to why this is wrong and why we should really be more mindful of the things we say. There are just so many other words you can use to convey how you feel about a certain character or a person.

Yaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!! I suggested this but it looks like lots of us did. So happy.

+1, ty for leaving this comment!

Hey guys! Love what you do and appreciate all the hard work you put into all these reactions but do you think you could try not to refer to women/girls as bitches so casually? Noticed it a few times (from all of you I think). Obviously sometimes female characters behave badly (although that absolutely wasn’t the case here) but even then there are terms (jerk, a-hole… whatever) that can convey that without also being misogynistic. Looking forward to the next episodes of the show!

By the way, Orla and Erin are cousins just like Michelle and James. Sarah is Orla’s mom and Mary is Erin’s mom, love the reaction!

clare is definitely will too, the goody two-shoes attitude who's willing to throw their friends under the bus to save themselves lol

Tia Lily

Wait I never clocked that Derry Girls and Inbetweeners are so similar, Sister Micheal = Mr Gilbert, Orla= Neil, and Michelle = Jay. I only ever saw Some Girls (bbc) as the female Inbetweeners.

Zahra

YAY!! I’m so happy you did this one!!

Alicia Keys

I knew you guys would love this show, its so funny. Poor James..lol. I also love the dynamic between Erin's Dad Gerry & her Grandad Joe. And Erin's Mom!!! Hilarious.

SO HAPPY this is the next series! It's such a gem. I'd recommend just scanning "The Troubles" page on wikipedia or something to get an understanding of the time period the girls are living in, if you aren't already familiar. It really helps to understand the comments the girls make about the English and the police, and the general background of violence behind all their shenanigans. Can't wait to watch along with yall

Mae

I love when people get into the Derry Girls. I'm Irish and there are lot's of things in the show that all Irish people would understand but outside of Ireland, there wouldn't be as much understanding. Just to give some context, this is taking part in the 1990's in Northern Ireland when there was a civil war (people who wanted Northern Ireland to become one with 'Republic of Ireland' , usually Catholics ... they were fighting with those who wanted to keep Northern Ireland in the U.K, usually Protestants). It was a very difficult time for everyone in Northern Ireland as there were bombings and violence almost every day. That's why the girls have no reaction to the soldier checkpoint on the bus because it is such a regular occurrence. All the clips on the tv are real news clips from the time. James can't go to a Catholic boy's school because he was English and it wouldn't have been safe for him there due to the ongoing war

Jenny

you got it spot on dw, i've seen people who have watched the show that have completely missed the point as to why everyone always shits on james for being english

Tia Lily

So pumped for this! Derry Girls is one of my favourite shows of all time. I agree with Bryce though it's definitely not one to talk too much through or you'll have no idea what's going on and also you can't appreciate the humour as well cause the dialogue is so whipsmart you really need to pay attention. I hope you guys continue to enjoy and can't wait for the next episode!

Kat

Glad people seem happy this one won, but please put Anne with an E on more polls in the future!! :D

OMGGGG so excited

YAYYYYY

Yayyyyy Derry Girls 🥰

Laughing at you guys attempting the accent after butchering nicola's surname in the first 30 seconds 😂

Nic

My time to shine with clearing shit up:Bollock and ballache are different slangs but do pretty much mean the same thing, James is the only guy cause he's English and they were scared he'd get beat up in the catholic boys school (commonly brought up theme in the show haha you'll start to pick up the dynamic) and to briefly clear up the derry girls are growing up during a 30 year civil war in northern ireland called the troubles (it's not actually about the troubles though) so that's why there is a lot of references to violence

Nic

also to add historical context this show takes place during the 90s towards the end of what was known as "the Troubles" in Northern Ireland which was a conflict spanning 30 years that was deciding if Northern Ireland would stay as a part of the United Kingdom or join the rest of Ireland. That's why there is such disdain from some characters towards James being English and the heavy military presence. someone, please correct me if I missed anything !!

Syd

One of my most memorable moments with my parents was watching this show with them because they were the same age as the characters when its set. It's such a beautiful and true-to-life snapshot of life in Northern Ireland at the time. I'm so glad you are watching and I'll have to send some Northern Irish bits and bobs your way for mailtime <3

Nic

Oral and Erin are cousins. I’m super excited you guys are watching this I think you’ll really learn to love the head nun

Tayla Riley

I feel like you guys would die watching Chewing Gum 😭
