This show really knows how to do a finale

Bailey Bradley

no wonder i had the instant urge to punch him.

Katy Ann

This the perfect content for during my finally-finished-my-shift snack time. 🀌 πŸ₯ͺ

The show’s soundtrack is *chef’s kiss* Thank for Spotify link!

Cindy S.

The juxtaposition of those two scenes made me emotional. So well done!

Cindy S.

I was waiting the whole time to see if Zuff would clock his boy Lord Berbrooke aka ber-booke!

Glad yous are enjoying the music in the show so much, the soundtrack really situates it in the time period I think. If you’d like you can find a playlist with all the songs played throughout the series on Spotify! Love from Ireland πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6xPhOPIiMX5BP6GggzFpna?si=kgGmQSMaR9eY3oiQNNIWXg

your guys' derry girls reactions always brightens my day 🫢 i loved this one and i can't wait for season two

natalie

Yeah, so the 3rd season came out in 2022 because of COVID. First season was 2018, 2nd in 2019 and season 3 was supposed to be filmed in 2020.

I think season 2 is better than season 1 so im sure you guys will enjoy it more! but loved your reactions to s1. Erin pissed me off this episode with the way she reacted to Clare but it truly is so realistic. James yelling "I support gays, even though I, myself am not actually gay!" never fails to absolutely send me

Michelle

You should watch Belfast for a movie reaction sometime! It shows kind of the beginning of the Troubles, also through the eyes of a child, though one much younger than the Derry Girls. It’s interesting to think of them together and see how nonchalant kids/teens became in a few decades.

Megan Brick

you're right!

The final scene is so powerful and a real gut punch that never fails to make me cry. The creator of the show (the brilliant Lisa McGee) said it was not based on a real bombing but it was tied to the feeling of total shock and horror that was felt by families all across Ireland when atrocities hit the news. She referenced the Omagh bombing in which 300 where injured and 29 people died including 2 pregnant women. May they rest in peace <3

Nic

yeah, i think the most realistic part was the fact that entire show whenever james has been called gay they're like "okay and?" but then the second a girl comes out as lesbian they're suddenly kind of disturbed by it initially, and as i said it sucks that shit like that happens but it's very accurate that some people will be fine with the opposite gender being lgbtq+ but not the same gender. as you said tho, erin is just immature

Tia Lily

Rob i'm sorry but being a Jenny Stan is a CRAZY statement πŸ˜‚

Nic

An actual gasp left my mouth like Mr Mescal has an absolute chokehold on Irish boys. He is the BLUEPRINT every boy here has a mullet and a chain at all times.

Nic

also completely agree with bryce at the end that what makes this show so much greater are the recurring jokes and the consistent quirks and dynamics between the characters. like james getting picked on by everyone and everyone calling him gay despite his constant denial, granda joe picking on gerry, orla being in her own world, erin being hilariously naive and ambitious, clare being chaotically anxious, michelle making sexual innuendos and getting them into trouble like its just so funny how everyone has their thing and it makes the show’s comedy that much more authentic.

k

it has now become my routine to get home from work and watch that day's derry girls episode watchalong and it's the best part of my day πŸ˜‚πŸ’–

Kristi K

he just cant be serious😭

k

the ending of this episode will always be one of my favorites. actually every season finale of this show has made me tear up 😭😭 its also made me look at dreams by the cranberries in an entirely new way. such a flawless scene that says so much

k

you're right! it's funny seeing him in this role. they really went in on making him appear distasteful in bridgerton and so seeing him as this role was really fun! i didn't place him at first myself.

emily ღ

Omg please tell me zuff did not just say Ciaran looks like Paul Mescal ... time to check if those contacts are the right prescription <3

Nic

right!! it's really realistic and i'm glad they did that. erin isn't a hateful person but she IS immature and ignorant and those are her faults. her growing and learning from them are a highlight of the show and i really like that they did it this way. some shows (schitts creek, bad buddy, etc) portray a world where homophobia doesn't exist, but derry girls is nothing if not real and to me, erin having an imperfect, problematic reaction is quite real. i'm glad they made up at the end. erin learning from her mistakes redeems her character and i'm always rooting for this friendship group

emily ღ

pretty sure the photo guy is same one from brigderton, who proposed to daphne in the beginning. or am i wrong?

was just gonna say this, so funny they couldnt place him😭😭

k

Shift your hole is indeed move your ass haha

Nic

The actor for Ciaran is actually Lord Berbrook from Bridgerton!!!!

LET'S GOOO!! honestly erin's initial reaction to clare coming out to her always upsets me. and that's a very real thing too, there are definitely people who come out and their 'friends' immediately say some shit like "well i don't like you like that" or "i hope you don't have a crush on me" like it fucking sucks. i'm glad they all made up at the end tho
