Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story Episode 6 'Crown Jewels' Early Access/Watchalong

i managed to hold my tears in the first time but it was worse on a rewatch

I knew he wouldn’t cry. He’s that type of person that doesn’t cry during ACTUAL sad scenes if that makes sense😭? love him tho.

It's fascinating to see that as much as Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte disliked Princess Augusta when they were young, they both in some sort of way, turn out to be just like her when they are older. Queen Charlotte became quite steadfast in securing the family line even if it brought her children misery and discomfort and Lady Danbury covered her bruises and endured and controlled her own fate as Princess Augusta. Charlotte and George's unrelenting and unyielding love for each other that spans decades and sickness was just perfect, no other Bridgerton couple had to endure what they did which is why even though I LOVE Kate and Anthony, Charlotte and George will always be in a league of their own. Also a quick shoutout to the couple I didn't see coming but was equally as sweet, Brimsley and Reynolds. I'm assuming Reynolds has died because I don't see him ever leaving George or Brimsley by choice, which breaks my heart into a million pieces.

This was my favorite season of any of the Bridgerton stories. I rewatched it with you guys and cried... AGAIN. I'm not a big crier with shows/movies, but this one got me TWICE. It's absolutely bittersweet. As far as George's illness, I was really interested in what historians make of it and read up about it a little bit. If you're curious, it seems like some researchers think he may have suffered from bipolar disorder and then, later in life, dementia. Of course, the illness is fictionalized in this adaptation, and no one can be sure what was ailing him in his real life...

Ngl, I’m kinda obsessed with the actress who plays young lady danbury. 🫢 She’s just so gorgeous 😩

What's cool is the son Edward who comes in at the end with his wife Victoria are actually the parents of the future Queen Victoria. Which they hint at when they say the baby will probably be a girl.

Katia Gaona

Can we have goblin since it finished please🙏

Yoona

I know y'all normally wouldn't do this, but if y'all had the time it would be cool if y'all were to react to a few interviews/videos of the cast. They are quite funny & help add more reasoning behind the choices the actors made in the series.

I had the response as Rob and Bryce, bursting out laughing with how much I was holding back tears 😭 Cannot think about this episode without crying lol!

Marie

Ugh this show 😭I think what gets me so emotional is when she gets under the bed again at the end. I see it as being her way of showing/saying "if what it takes for you to feel safe is for me to step into your madness with you, I will do it because I love you and choose you every day." It's just all so beautifully tragic and I have such respect for the cast and how they portrayed it all.

LeAnna

the fact that in present day they still see each other as when they were young crushes me everytime oh my god

CAMILA

Zuff is stronger than all of us lol if this scene didn’t get him to shed a tear, idk what will 🙃

I don’t think the reveal of Lady Danbury having had a short lived relationship with Lord Ledger was weird. I think that Lady D became close with Violet because of her feelings toward her father. She couldn’t be close with him, but being friends with his daughter was a way to be a part of his life in some way. And it didn’t hurt that Violet was just as kind and giving as her father.

Charlotte did not have time to be an attentive mother. Her attention was on George and the country. She was essentially the King and Queen while George has his issues. It's why everyone is scared of her and does what she says throughout Bridgerton. That's why her children said she was their Queen and not their mother. Everyone knows she calls the shots for the country.

Tosh

That ending was insane omg so beautifully done and just heart-wrenching. Zuff has to be a robot lmao

Michelle

omg I made I promise to myself to not cry the entire episode. but they REALLY got me with that last part. whoever wrote that in you're sick😭

damn i told myself i wasn’t gonna cry at the end but it got me 😭

I absolutely LOVE Kate and Anthony. And it's extremely hard for me to choose whose love story I love more. But I think Charlotte and George's love is more of what real love is about. Kate and Anthony's was filled with excitement, lust, and more so finding the love within oneself to let them love another. George and Charlotte's story was like the Queen said, true love is choosing to bind yourself to another and love them unconditionally. George and Charlotte, but more specifically Charlotte, chose to love despite all the hardship that came their way. Loving George was not going to be easy, but she promised to love him and that's what she did. Charlotte was given the choice multiple times to leave George, and each time she chose to stay and love him fearlessly. She made that choice every day from the moment she met him in the garden until that last scene. Love is hard and it can be painful, but when someone chooses love over everything else, then it can be beautiful. I believe everyone deserves to be loved like George, and everyone should strive to love like Charlotte. Kate and Anthony's story was beautiful, but Charlotte and George show more of the reality of love, and just how powerful it can be when you DECIDE to love fully and someone decides to love you fully. To take another and vow to love them no matter what. Their love was not easy, and yet they continued to choose each other after all that time.

Don't sweat about not knowing the history. Shonda herself has said as much. This story/show was not meant to be historically accurate but based in part on historical figures/facts.

i'm so glad you guys enjoyed! (she said, wiping her tears lol) i wanted to say that what really gets me about this story is the message it holds for people with severe or volatile mental illnesses. in episode 5, charlotte says in response to the doctor's insistence he is fighting for george's sanity, "i care for his soul. let him be mad if mad is what he needs." the idea that people will choose to love you without trying to *fix* you even when you're not lucid, even when it's difficult, even when it actively hurts them because they believe you're worth it can be really difficult to internalize. it is so beautiful to see media that shows george loving and being loved in all his facets. oh no i'm crying again!

There is a deleted scene that would've informed us what happened with Reynolds. I think they decided to let the audience decide on what happened for themselves though, so the deleted scene is not canon. If you want to know see my "spoiler" below. ***SPOILER*** Reynolds and Brimsley grew apart over time. Since the scene was not included though, it is not canon and what happened with them can be changed or you can decide for yourselves.

Seeing that you guys enjoy Bridgerton, I wonder if you'd enjoy some of Shonda's other shows like Scandal. It's completely different from Bridgerton but the writing is good for the most part.
