also i had a similar experience with the michelle/erin thing lmfao. it didn't happen to me personally but when i was in high school i was invited to this house party and one of our friends said that she was gonna be there and then last minute she texted the party gc and said that she couldn't come bc something came up. we were just kinda like "oh okay hope you're alright." later that night my best friend (the one hosting the party) started yelling and we were like wtf and it turned out that the friend who said she couldn't come was at somebody else's party that night and she was posting all of it on snapchat💀💀 i mean i personally didn't care but the others were fuming lol

I agree with Bryce that the group dynamic felt off whenever Clare wasn't there, so I am also glad the show ended here. I love it when shows don't get dragged into the ground. It was so much fun to get to know all of these characters, many of whom were so endearing. Again, to piggyback on what Bryce said, every character had a charming or funny quirk to them that made it amusing to watch whenever they appeared. I'm going to miss this gang so much! Years from now when everyone is much older, I would love to see a reunion episode to see what these characters have been up to.

I personally loved that they left certain things in the air, it's refreshing. Specially the possible relationship between Erin and James because that particular bit wasn't the main focus. We were supposed to relate to the girls and love them just like that, flaws and all. This was about a different kind of love, for your friends, family and also for your culture and your countries struggles, that i think is something many of us can relate regardless of the country. In the end this show was a real treat and being a Derry Girl is definitely a state of mind! 💚 Loved your reactions, so glad you gave this gem a chance.

I wasn't disappointed that they didn't end up together by the end of the show because I could very easily picture them married somewhere down the line. It's awesome to hear that showrunner acknowledged it. I figured James and Erin would go on and live their lives, but their attraction—and the fact that James said he would wait—would undoubtedly lead to them getting together.

Erin put on the “I’m an individual” Jean jacket from the very first episode at the end😭 Also the creator of the show said in an interview she imagined that James and Erin ended up married in the future

Hamburger phones were a thing back in the day. Personally, I had a Heinz Ketchup bottle phone. I think they stuck the landing with this ending one. It really brought things into perspective and left the future to be written both personally and historically. The Chelsea Clinton cameo was a really cute surprise. Looking forward to Ted Lasso.

to me, it wrapped up appropriately. the ending of "next step into the future" and showing the little girl, the new generation of derry girls....the vote, etc. it showed that it wasn't "finished" here, that there was much work still to be done so narratively i think it made sense. i think the nice moment between jo and jerry was when jo put his hand on jerry's shoulder that one episode watching the news. and then seeing them all dance and have fun. to me, that was the good moment between them. i think for me it was done really well in how it ended and still left things open to interpretation and showing there's more that needs to be done. the show kind of parallels the vote. just because the vote happened / the show is ending, doesn't mean that that's where the work and the story ends. there's much to be done moving forward, but the little girl and jerry stepping out into that sunlight showed hope for the bright future not just for ireland but for each of the derry girls as well.
