because she was supposed to be portrayed as close minded and an actual diagnosed sociopath. that's what makes her character growth so much more special in my eyes. also a lot of kpop and kdrama fans see korea with these rose colored glasses because thats what the shows and idols make it seem like. but hate to tell you, there are still a lot of prejudice people in korea, and not just the older generation. even big idols are known to make racist and prejudice remarks before their company runs back with an apology and an 'uneducated' excuse. thats just how it is right now. its slowly becoming a more liberal country, but it is very well known to be a conservative country. what this show did was highlight how even those who think theyre ahead of their time (influencers especially), are still leagues away from being forward thinking. it made a lot of international fans of kdramas and kpop really uncomfortable because god forbid this shiny looking paradise has a serious flaw. but the reason it was so popular in korea and among poc and lgbtq fans is because it did showcase those flaws and did show growth among the characters. i guess maybe it makes sense to people who have been there and experience that prejudice every day or have friends who do.

someone told me when i asked they'd seen a comment about how the lead girl wasn't pretty enough to be the lead. idk if everyone that hates it feels that way but that out such a bad taste in my mouth. i had only every heard fantastic things about it up until being on the patreon lmao i'd never once heard any of these criticisms until here lol

Yeah it’s really weird how it’s been getting a lot of hate on here when this was such a huge hit in Korea and Japan. I distinctly remember one person on here even commenting that they don't want it to win bc the female lead doesn’t have the “looks of a female lead” lol 💀🙄 so that gives me an idea about some of the audience age range on here...
