S1 Nate internalized his insecurities and lack of self-worth. In contrast, S2 Nate deals with his insecurities by externalizing them to give him a sense of power. A huge ego and lack of self confidence is a dangerous combination. Personally, I never liked the spitting thing he has going on bc 1. ew dirty like some employee has to clean that up and 2. I feel like it shows his self-hatred and rejection of self and 3. it's him overcompensating for his masculinity with ego and power in a derogatory way Sure, we can explain his behavior and talk about his family life/trauma and insecurities, but you cannot keep overlooking or over-explaining a persons actions. It's not a justification for hurting others. Bad behavior may be explained, but not excused.

Nate deserves no benefit of the doubt πŸ˜‚ He has the option to stop looking to the Internet for praise because the same people who lift you up can also tear you down. This is why everyone doesn’t deserve attention, because it shows when it’s not something that they got a lot of as a child. Great reaction though ☺️ loved Dr. Sharon putting Ted in his place. Love her

That’s exactly it! Thank you, I appreciate this take. I definitely have known some people to have really bad therapists for sure (like, just absolute joke level therapy). I think bc counseling is my passion, I just love when they actually show the therapy how is is SUPPOSED to be. πŸ˜„ I’m so glad to hear that you had some good ones that were beneficial for you 🫢

I understand both to be fair. I've had a few therapists, some were awful at their job. It felt like they were reading out of an outdated textbook based on the simplest definition of my diagnoses, completely impersonal, didn't want to be there, one even talked about herself more than anything else. But the couple I've had that were great literally changed my life and were absolutely wonderful people. I appreciate showing the great ones to let people know it is an option and you really can get help, but I also appreciate the representation of bad ones, because it can be easy for someone to not see any improvement under a bad therapist and blame themselves.

The amount of frustration I had with Nate in this episode πŸ˜‘ I do love how Dr. Sharon is representing legit therapists who do actually care about their work. A lot of shows/movies make them seem like they don’t care or have no idea what they are doing lol, so this is a refreshing take.
