This show truly just makes my heart happy. Everything from the setting to the music is just so soothing (outside of houses burning down).

also on the topic of "play" vs "imagination" i think while what anne was doing was imagination, it can also be tied with her own form of dissociation. as you can recall she was pretty much tortured by the other kids in the orphanages and homes she was in (the scene with the mouse) and her being in that school constantly ostracized and belittled, it probably took her back to that time and brought up some very unpleasant memories. so she just...removed herself into her own little world of her imagination. so she wasn't trying to be "bad" as i worry zuff was alluding to (when he said he was getting mad at her and telling her she could just "play later). i think bryce was on the right track with imagination moreso than play, but with anne and her trauma, i think we have to account for an added layer of something more than just her imagining. she was escaping. it's a survival thing for her she's had to learn in the past. i know y'all are so good when it comes to empathy for the characters you react to, i just want to remind y'all to kind of go into this show with maybe even a bit more added grace than usual towards anne for the things she's had to endure.

yes!!! she's a survivor of horrific abuse that adults can't even really process and heal from without mental health assistance and therapy much less a child as young as her living in the time period she is in. also!! she's very much autistic coded or some color of neurodivergence. she's doing the best she can with what she's got. a lot of how she speaks is poetic and flowery similar to how books or plays of her time period are written. i don't think the way she is comes out of left field. it very much has to do with who is she, what she's gone through, and the time period she's living in.

Anne’s not crazy y’all 😭 She’s just a traumatized child who uses her imagination to escape. She always helps however she can!

❤️

i'm so glad you guys are enjoying this show! like i said in the comments of the first video; it truly only gets better as it goes on! you get more invested with every episode, and there is never a dull moment in my opinion 😊
