Swani

put it in reverse terry !

jenna wallace

also the actress you didn't recognise at the end was from 'I May Destroy You'

Zahra

It's a little easter egg but in the office of the tv exec and the homepage of Streamberry (Joan is awful) there's a poster for 'The Callow Years', the production company also made a documentary about the prime minister from S1!

Watching this a second time with you guys made me see the parallels with S1E2 'Fifteen Million Merits'. Success and achievement, but at what cost? In order to get what you 'want', you need to sell out everything that you have. And even then, you're still under the thumb of someone or something higher. Both episodes leave me with that gut-wrenching existential dread. That being said, excellent episode! My favourite of season 6.

yeah it's definitely a jab at how people create true crime content and how people eat it up and it's like, real people died?? like it's not just some cool tv show or silly youtube video, people actually died and a lot of the time the family of the victims and the victims themselves never get the justice they fully deserve. like as you guys mentioned, dahmer was just fucked up bc the family of one of the victims had said netflix never asked for their consent and they weren't aware they were even making a show until it was already out, and they also said it was like reliving the trauma all over again. it fucks with peoples lives and it's so unfair honestly. i really enjoyed this episode tho, it was so eerie and as you guys said it didn't fully feel like black mirror but it was good as hell.

Can't waitttttt for the full watchalong! :)

Not just true crime content creators (I assume we're including documentary/biopic makers), but the people who watch them. It shows the dispassionate nature in which we devour true crime content en masse, with little to no consideration for the victims or their surviving family and friends. Even down to the locals who knew those involved gleefully reveling in the attention that comes with it. Such widespread commoditisation of real grief and suffering is pretty vile when you think about it.

Also I feel like this episode was kinda a diss at true crime content creators lmao 😭 true crime has been so romanticized, loch henry does a great job portraying that

Mimi
