While silly and funny at first I acc love the subplot of Marilla developing a crush on Nate. I feel like in media we're used to seeing middle-aged men, for example, interested in women in their 20s/30s. It's refreshing to see a middle-aged, conservative, reserved woman express sexuality and romantic interest. It kind of challenges the misconception that passion and desire is confined by gender, being young and promiscuous or by societal expectations. "Grace and Frankie" is one of my fave shows that also shows that women don't become sexless the moment the develop wrinkles haha shout out Jade Fonda and Lily Tomlin :)
