if i can gush for a second: bash was created for the show by co-showrunner shernold edwards who joined in season 2 (she wrote this episode). i don't have a ton of black canadian women in tv to look up to, so it was really thrilling to see how diversity in the writers' room opens up a new aspect of a familiar, beloved but also super white story :-)
