One of my absolute favourites. But am I the only one who prefers the Iris/Miles and even Iris/Arthur story over Amanda & Graham? Cameron & Jude obviously have a ton of chemistry but Iris's relationships (besides Jasper) are just so pure. And the whole thing with Graham being some kind of hero because he's a widower and a single dad is so weird to me, because women do it ALL THE TIME and no one bats an eye. I don't care if that makes me "woke". In fact I'm proud of it. But here are a few fun facts: The film was written specifically with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black in mind. Kate Winslet's character was named Iris after Jude Law's real life daughter. Also, Kate Winslet and Rufus Sewell (Jasper) briefly dated in 1995. Eli Wallach (Arthur) was 90 years old when this was filmed. Apparently he was so energetic that he had to be reminded several times during filming to slow down and act more like an older man. The website Amanda and Iris use, homeexchange.com, is real. After the film came out, house swapping became extremely popular to the point where the UK police had to issue a warning against swapping homes with strangers due to identity fraud and even murders. Actor Dustin Hoffman is the man in the video store as Jack Black sings Mrs.Robinson by Simon & Garfunkel from The Graduate (which Hoffman starred in). His cameo in the film was completely unplanned and unscripted. He was driving by and saw all of the cameras and equipment so he decided to stop and see what was happening. Because he knew writer and director Nancy Meyers, she wrote a scene with him which ultimately made the final cut. Btw Zuff was so beyond unhinged in this reaction!
