When I initially watched this film I was so damn confused, and I did not like it either because I couldn't understand what happened. Old English confuses the flip out of me. Anya was my favorite part of it because I understood her the most. I watched reactors watching this film and I didn't even understand what happened in the movie until I watched Brandon Likes Movies' reaction to this film. He explains it very well in my opinion and I rewatched the movie afterward and actually understood what was happening/ enjoyed it more. So if you all are confused I highly recommend his reaction specifically. Even in school, I was in Advanced English but those dang Shakespearean plays with their old English were a struggle. My sister would have to read them to me and explain what was happening. She and Sparknotes saved me during those types of literature units. To clarify, they were banished for trying to spread their religion to the people who lived in their initial settlement.
