I have a question!? Is there a reason you guys do just the watch along here on Patreon and not just show the movie in the video??

britney

hey idk if y'all will see this but i'm commenting on the watch along cuz y'all were asking questions about the stuff on their backs. so, yet again, as a health care worker let me try to explain lol. it very well could have been frostbite, which i'm sure you guys know how frostbite works, but they also could have been what we call "bedsores". (sort of graphic descriptions coming up) they come from staying in one position for too long. for example, you know how when you wake up after sleeping on your arm or something and there's just a red patch on your arm that usually goes away after a while? it goes away bc you allow oxygen and blood to flow through once you move your arm from underneath you, however if you were to keep it there it would get darker and darker due to the lack of oxygen and blood. and since a lot of the time the injured/sick guys were on their backs without being moved a whole lot, the lack of oxygen and blood was increasing, and if it goes on for long enough then your skin will literally start to decay to the point where there's just a hole and you can see bones. they didn't get moved around too much apart from when they did those small checkups, and then they'd immediately place them back down on their backs, when they should have been turning them every once in a while.

This whole story is truly incredible! The fact that Nando was actually in a coma after the crash and the only reason he survived was because they thought he was dead and put him in the coldest part of the plane which brought down the swelling in his brain and then he went on to be the reason they survived 🤯

Professional mountain climbers train years to be able to do what they did😭 it’s so crazy

Carisma Sanchez

yeah i remember finding their story randomly on wiki and read the whole thing and was enthralled so when i watched the movie it literally felt exactly how i read it like this is exactly how i imagined it to be

This movie perfectly matches the older movie, Alive (1993). Nothing was exaggerated, everything came from the survivors. It’s an unforgettable story. I went on wikipedia deep-dives on other similar scenarios, I’m sure you’ve heard of the Donner Pass party who got stuck in the mountains and had to resort to cannibalism. Another situation labeled the “english calamity” happened in the early 20th century where a school teacher misled a group of boys on a hike and many perished in the cold. Really makes you think if what you would do in that scenario, and also like Bryce said, appreciate these feats of humanity…

YESSS SAMEE! It definitely deserves it

Laura

Such a sad movie so glad you guys reacted to it! And the video footage of them getting rescued was actually real footage from the actual survivors! Did you guys stay til the end to watch the pictures of the real survivors??

Laura

Interesting fact, the director of this movie is the same from "The Impossible". I read the whole story a long time ago and I don't think they made it more dramatic, all the facts in the movie are coherent with what really happened

Ally

I hope it wins the Oscar

cried like a baby watching this with you guys

I’ll let you know some facts about this entire incident. 1. The actor reading the names of the survivors near the end was the real survivor Carlitos Paez playing his own father. 2. Parts of the film was filmed in the actual site that the plane crashed. The rest was filmed in mountains in Spain and the scenes before the crash was filmed in Uruguay. Which leads to my next fact… 3. Near the beginning of the film when Numa is driving his bicycle home, he greets a man walking down the street. The actor is the actual Numa’s nephew. And the house Numa went in was Numa’s actual home before he died. 4. Nando Parrado (the actual survivor) makes a cameo during the airport scene at the beginning, he opened the door to the actor playing him. the actual Roberto Canessa also made a cameo near the end as the doctor, he was behind the actor playing him. 5. Many of the cast members have little experience or have never acted before. For example, one of the actors has only ever been a rugby player. 6. In the film you see that they get rescued all at once but in reality, it took two days to rescue all of them. One helicopter went to rescue half of the survivors, while the rest had to stay another night (of course, some rescuers and a doctor were there and they gave them food). 7. In the film you see people cheering for them that they were rescued and they were, but then the media and people started to turn against them because they had to eat human flesh to survive. The survivors had to resort to making a press conference after one of the rescuers took a picture of the plane crash site and there were bones around. Then the doctors realized what they did and then it leaked to the media which started harassing them and one of the headlines even said “May god forgive them!” and the press even accused them of making up the avalanche and saying that they killed their friends to eat them. 8. Despite the amount of harassment they received for what they had to do, surprisingly the Catholic Church put out a statement defending them. The harassment went down a bit afterwards. 9. Majority of the people in the plane are religious, especially the rugby team. They attended an Irish Catholic school in Uruguay and that’s where they formed their team and created a bond. 10. Liliana and Marcelo’s death was one of the hardest for the team because they saw Liliana as a mother and Marcelo was their team’s Captain. 11. Roberto Canessa’s then girlfriend and now wife said in a interview that the guys were deeply bonded by this incident that instead of looking for them (their girlfriends), the guys would look for each other to be with one another (like in the last scene of the film). 12. Carlitos said in a podcast that the survivors have a WhatsApp group chat called Mountain Range 2, they used to have one called Mountain Range 1 but one of the guys had an argument and left the group chat but then they made another group chat aka Mountain Range 2 and added the member that initially left lmao.

The letters that Coco wrote for his family and girlfriend broke my heart. I’m amazed by how Nando was almost dead, his skull was broken, he saw his mom and his sister passing away and still climbed for 10 days to survive and help his friends and people he barely knew.

Hi guys!!! I love your reaction of one of my favourite movies that came Out recently. I don't Know if you know That some of the real survivors appears in this film. For example, The person Who is announcing the names of the survivors is the real Carlitos Miguel Páez, portraying his own father role in the real events. Nando Parrado also has a cameo at the beggining of the film,he is holding the Door in the airport for himself, his Sister and his Mother. Finally , Roberto Canessa appears also at the end of the movie when they are entering in the hospital after being rescue as the doctor standing directly behind the actor that portraying him. The director of this film is Juan Antonio Bayona, the same director of The impossible. The film is being nominated for 2 Oscar best international movie and best make up

Luisa

These movies always got me feeling like I’d be one of the first people to go but it’s amazing how they pulled through and thought of everything

Lauren Christian

I didn’t know about this story but I got so obsessed with it, their resilience and their ability to survive something like this! Is insane to me! The movie did really good portraying all of the people that survived and also the people that were left behind.
