Luke Newton really nails the teary eyed tortured eyes in this one. Poor Colin. I love that scene he has with Violet and how as soon as it ends he it straight over to do what his dad did and ask, but just can't quite find the nerve. It's also great that they have Violet in the back of the shot watching on. I do think the balloon scene could've been done better to make clear Colin only does that as he sees Penelope is in the direct line of the balloon and that she doesn't move because she's too distracted staring at hot Colin! I don't think any of that comes across well enough.

Throughout season 1 and 2 and the first two episodes of s3 he has always given her these longing glances and been alone with her/taken her hand when it is considered improper, tried to protect her from cousin Jack and said sweet words to her. I think what was missing was that physical connection, so after kissing her he finally realizes he's attracted to her and wants her more than a friend. I can't wait to see your reactions to episode 4!!!

Also, love Lady Arnold turning Benedict around during their dance and taking the lead, him looking confused for a moment, then just rolling with it lol

Excited to see how all the episodes tie together and build on the romance like Season 1, 2 and Queen Charlotte did.
