宇土野の読書感想文 udonotaibook その1『石田徹也遺作集』

たまには全年齢向けのコンテンツも作ってみようということで、私の好きな本を紹介していこうと思う。

最初に紹介するのは『石田徹也遺作集』（2006年、求龍堂）。2005年に31歳で生涯を閉じた画家 石田徹也の画集である。

画面に漂うのは窮屈さ、孤独感、切ない沈黙…。描かれるのは機械や道具と融合し、疲れ切ったような顔の青年たち。ユーモラスとも取れる肉体を持ちながらも、声に出せない辛苦を秘めた表情は、人に笑われて生活するピエロのような悲哀を感じさせる。

本の表紙に使われている絵は「飛べなくなった人」という作品。廃墟の遊園地の一角だろうか。重苦しい曇天の下で、飛行機の遊具と一体化した青年が、無気力な顔で手を広げている。機体の剥がれかかった塗装には、クマのようなキャラクターがあしらわれている。画面右下にはもう一機の飛行機の遊具が見切れている。

私がこの絵で好きな部分は、機体の錆びや剥がれた塗装の表現だ。これらの金属の経年劣化の様子は、絵の中に時間的な奥行きをもたらしている。

かつては美しく塗装されていたのが、風雨にさらされ剥離し錆びている。その「かつて」の部分を鑑賞者に想像させてくれる。この男も「かつて」は一人の少年として、ピカピカの塗装の飛行機遊具で遊んでいたのであろう。子どものごっこ遊びとは、現実で見ている風景を想像と融合させて楽しむものである。少年は飛べない遊具に乗りながらも、その想像力で滑空していたのだ。しかし、それが年月を経て「飛べなくなった」のだろう。機体の塗装は剥がれはじめ、「これは単なる鉄の塊だ」という現実が明るみに出る。男は現実に閉じ込められているのだ。男が現実から目を背けるためには想像力で空を飛び続ける必要があり、幼児退行を余儀なくされる。切羽詰まった表情で子どもの頃を演じ続けて、どうにか心を保とうとしている。しかし、空には無慈悲にも雲が立ちこめており、塗装をさらにはぎ取ろうとしている…。

本の全編を通して切なく、息が詰まるような陰鬱とした絵が続く。共感できる人からすれば悲しみにしんみりと寄り添ってくれるような絵だが、元気な人からすればしんどくなる怖い絵だと思う。個人的には、平然と異常な人物が配されているところが好み。

I thought I'd try making some content for all ages for once, so I'd like to introduce some of my favorite books.

The first one I'd like to introduce is "Ishida Tetsuya's Posthumous Works" (2006, Kyuryudo). It's a collection of art by the artist Ishida Tetsuya, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 31.

The paintings are filled with a sense of crampedness, loneliness, and sad silence... The paintings depict young men with exhausted faces, fused with machines and tools. Their bodies could be seen as humorous, but their expressions, hiding unspoken pain, give the impression of sadness, like that of a clown who lives his life being laughed at by others.

The picture used on the cover of the book is a work called "The Man Who Could No Longer Fly." It seems to be a corner of an abandoned amusement park. Under a heavy, cloudy sky, a young man who has become one with an airplane toy spreads his arms outstretched, with a listless look on his face. A bear-like character is decorated on the peeling paint of the aircraft. Another airplane toy is cut off in the bottom right of the painting. What I like about this painting is the depiction of the rust and peeling paint on the aircraft. The deterioration of these metals over time brings a sense of temporal depth to the painting.

The once beautifully painted aircraft has now been exposed to the elements and peeled off, rusting. It allows the viewer to imagine that "former" part. This man was probably once a boy playing with a shiny, painted airplane toy. Children's pretend play is about enjoying the scenery they see in reality by blending it with their imagination. Even though the boy was riding on a toy that could not fly, he was gliding with his imagination. However, over the years, it must have "no longer been able to fly." The paint on the aircraft begins to peel off, revealing the reality that "this is just a lump of iron." The man is trapped in reality. In order for the man to turn his eyes away from reality, he needs to continue flying in the sky with his imagination, and he is forced to regress to childhood. With a desperate look on his face, he continues to act out his childhood, somehow trying to keep his mind together. However, clouds gather mercilessly in the sky, threatening to further peel away the paint...

The whole book is filled with sad, suffocating and depressing images. His works that people who are feeling down can sympathize with and feel a little better, but I think it will make cheerful people feel despair.Personally, I like how the book features characters who are nonchalantly abnormal.
