What.. being selfish is one of Damon’s main traits. He even calls himself selfish. That’s kind of the point? Peoples defensiveness of Damon makes them so blind sometimes. What’s cute is he says to Elena “I can’t be selfish with you” like he’s the epitome of the character trope of bad guy changes for the sweet girl.. she makes him a better person and able to developed real relationships with people. You can’t blame Stefan for going off of 150+ years instead of the past year.

He has, under many different circumstances. I’m saying that doesn’t make it okay for Stefan to say that to him, that’s all. Saying someone isn’t good enough for someone else is messed up to hear.

Even if she wasn’t happy that Caroline wasn’t excited about her getting with Damon i didn’t expect her to minimise those feelings so much. I mean Elena was the one who fought to free Caroline from Damon in the first place. She was the first person to call it abuse.

From the start of the show one of her core characteristics was her strong sense of agency, making decisions for herself and being independent. It was a huge part of her relationships with Stefan and Damon, and this season strips that from her completely. The sirebond storyline imo could’ve been good if it was focused around Elena as a character and not the love triangle. A character with that much independence losing all of it should be hugely impactful to them as a person beyond the feelings of her love interests.

Though it's a little inconsistent because in the beginning of Tyler's sire bond to Klaus he clearly portrays irrational feelings of loyalty towards him. I feel so bad for Stefan though and he doesn't even know they slept together. The song is from Twilight btw. And Bryce, you reacted to all the Twilight movies on the channel 😂 Fun facts: Bourbon Street is a very famous street in New Orleans, known for its bars and restaurants. Ian Somerhalder grew up in Covington, which is about 45 minutes in distance from NO. Since 2020, Ian and Paul have owned the whiskey brand Brother's Bond Bourbon. The name of the episode is also a play on "We'll Always Have Paris", a famous quote from the movie Casablanca. Apparently during the first take of "Damon, I know what you're about to do, please don't do this to me", Nina Dobrev started crying and they had to take a break for 10 minutes. She said it felt so real. Adina Porter (Nandi, the witch) has been in a lot of shows like American Horror Story, True Blood (another vampire-themed show which started a year before TVD), The 100, The Newsroom and Outer Banks. Madeline Zima (Charlotte) started working as an actor as a child and was in a really good thriller called The Hand that Rocks the Cradle and another one called Lethal Vows (a little bit older), along with a sitcom called The Nanny. As an adult she has been in A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff, Chad Michael Murray, Jennifer Coolidge & Regina King, Bombshell with Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie & Allison Janney and the TV series Californication & Heroes. 2024-10-03 01:33:13 +0000 UTCThis episode really epitomizes why the sire bond storyline is so bad because the things they tell us about the sire bond just blatantly contradict what we're actually shown about it. -They talk about how rare it is yet it happened to Damon twice in just 60 years -"A vampire only bonds to her sire when she has feelings for him before she turns. Human feelings." By that logic, there are SO MANY other characters who should be sired. Finn should be sired to Sage, Damon should be sired to Katherine, Lexi's bf should be sired to her, etc. -They say it doesn't affect how you feel, just how you act even though just last episode we saw Elena be worried about Jeremy, Damon told her not to be and then she wasn't anymore. (And yes I recognize in the context of that scene Tyler was referencing feelings the sired feel for their sire in general but if Damon can unintentionally remove Elena's core character trait which is her concern and compassion for her loved ones by just saying "Don't worry about it," that's a problem). The whole sire bond thing is honestly just insulting. It's insulting to Elena because it removes her agency as a character, one of her best character traits and it's insulting to fans of both Stelena and Delena because Stelena fans deserve a better reason for them to break up and Delena fans deserve a better reason for them to get together. It feels like they couldn't write Damon and Elena together without drama so instead of actually getting to enjoy them as a couple, we're just left with this weird magical addendum to their relationship that casts an ugly shadow over everything. Also just a sidenote: Elena slut shaming Caroline is SO out of character for her, especially when she was the first person to notice the negative effect Damon was having on Caroline and warning him to stay away from her back in season 1.

Stefan can’t stand the fact that Elena loves Damon and he lashes out, but it still doesn’t make it okay. Damon has done so many good things for Elena. he deserves to be with Elena and get to be happy with her. It’s elena decision on whom she wants to be with, stefan cannot determine that for her.

Stefan and Caroline were in deep denial that Elena can ever return her feelings for damon, when we clearly saw in season 3 how much their connection grew. Damon has been there for Elena through thick and thin, and that’s the man that she fell in love with.

I personally still stand on if she chose Damon in s3 finale maybe those feelings wouldn't have been so magnified to the point where she got sired. She constantly pushed her feelings for Damon away so much, now we know STRONG feelings since she ended up sired.

Its reflective of releasing someone from the sire bond and I love that the first time he loved someone so much to let them go, started with Stefan ❤️
