Top Gun: Maverick (2022) - Reel-Timers MM #24 Early Access/Watchalong!

Comments

Yep, Goose's son is actually named Bradley Bradshaw! We have Brad Brad and Bob Bob in this movie!!! Hahahaaa!

The actors faced g-forces as high as 9, but most of the time it was at a limit of 7.5! Still impressive, but it won't hurt the jets at that speed!

It's the same as with the first movie... naming a country would be like starting World War III!

Penny Benjamin was mentioned twice in the first movie but was never seen. She was with Maverick before Charlotte "Charlie" Blackwood. Penny and Maverick were together on and off again in the years between the two movies!

Yes, Monica Barbaro (Phoenix) was the only actor who never threw up while filming in the air! They didn't say if Tom was included in that, but I'm assuming he was! LOL!

He flew the P-51 Mustang in the very last scene with Jennifer Connelly in the rear seat. That's Tom's plane! He didn't fly the F-18 or the F-14 jets. The Navy would never allow that! All of the pilot actors flew in the rear seat of the F-18 and the F-14, while the actual Navy pilots flew them around!

All of the actors flew with a camera in the cockpit. Penny said “North Island” meaning Naval Station North Island in San Diego.

Fun fact Tom Cruz was indeed flying in the movie. INSANE the man's skill level in stunts in next level.

Fish Rae

I think the mission is supposed to be Russia but they never say it so the enemy is a “mystery”

Emily

He was awesome in Lessons in Chemistry on Apple

This movie alone is just so impressive because of all the training just the actors had to go through. It was all filmed inside real jets, so they had to train in order to be safe up there even if they were just passengers but also to be able to withstand at least some Gs. It's wild what all Tom required of everyone to get this done, cuz from an acting standpoint and a production standpoint he wanted it all to be as real possible. I think that's why I like this movie so much, you can tell how much care and attention to detail went into it and it really pays off

Myranda

Penny actually isn’t the girl from the first movie, they are two different characters but i’ve noticed a lot of people get confused with that.

Bailey

This is making me scream. Thank you for fighting alongside me 🫡 Happy 2 years boys! And happy Top Gun: Maverick day to me!! 😭😅

Emory

Happy 2 years, what a great movie to celebrate! Also, thank you, Emory, for all your hard work in the comments, we appreciate it. That piano "Great Balls of Fire" callback always gets me teary for Goose. Bob is the best character in the whole movie, love him, but Hangman is great eye candy too lol. Also, yeah, Miles Teller is actually called Bradley Bradshaw 😂

Cristy

This movie is insane. If you guys get the chance definitely check out some behind the scenes. Tom made all of the actors go through actual training and very little CGI was used so they were filming in actual jets flown by the US Navy.

Jackie B

I was all set to watch this yesterday and then realized it wasn’t going to be posted until today! I’m so ready for this!

Jesse De Mercurio

Bob is my favorite and he’s Bill Pullman’s son! He looks just like his dad in Independence Day.

can’t believe it’s been 2 yrs of RTMM and 2 yrs of Emory fighting for her life in the comments that led to this moment lol 🥂🎉 ( thank u Emory🫡 ) i remember going to see this movie w my brother after he graduated boot camp in the Navy as soon as it came out!! it was such a special experience to watch the breathtaking aerial sequences! i also can’t say enough about the cinematography! excited to watch along w you guys
