(genuinely curious) i definitely understand why you would feel the way you’re feeling as a stefan fan, but i just don’t see how she gave him “hope”. i think damons eyes would’ve lit up if that were the case😭 instead they were in despair bc she made her choice which was stefan. i promise you, you don’t have to stand in the delena teary eyed circle, they’re suffering enough already from this episode😭

I am not bandwagoning on to anyone else's opinion, like be for real! The scene sucks for me as a Stefan fan and that is my opinion! 2024-09-16 01:19:27 +0000 UTCI was so into the love triangle when this show was airing. Now in my thirties, I could do without it. I was a hardcore Delena shipper back then. The actors had wonderful chemistry and I loved the banter/dialogue. I love vampires that lean into the vampirism aspect. I’m not looking for non-human characters to show humanity or be the good guy. I’m watching for fantasy and escapism. So characters who embrace it like Damon and Klaus always end up being my favorite. I wish Stefan and Elena could have skipped the back and forth so Stefan could have used the extra time to employ his super strength and super speed to save both. Alas, the plot moves forward and this show is still so fun to watch. I’m so happy to see you, Zuff.

I understand the poetry of the scene but there are A LOT of plot holes with Elena's death scene. My Delena heart broke when she chose Stefan but the fact that later on in the episode it was revealed that Delena had met first and Elena just admitted that had she met Damon first things would have been different made me so happy. Also it was interesting to see that Elena was immediately flirting with Damon at first sight, no matter what she was always attracted to him. Also love how Elena admitted that Damon consumes her, and during their first meet he told her she wanted a "love that consumes you" soulmatism at it's finest.

It felt downplay by Elena herself though..What is the point besides clearly saying they are wrong or not understanding what YOU THINK the scenes are protraying. I literally wrote that stelena has a special place in my heart. Stelena were the strongest s1-2, Elena's head would not turn in s1, they were wholesome like I said. Read the last part of my sentence. The one about Stefan's impact on Elena and her life, I'll always acknowledge that. Let's acknowledge this now, anyone who comments abut delena you run to it, it's annoying. 2024-09-14 19:25:55 +0000 UTCyes… you stated that already but im curious on HOW that gives hope? haven’t watched the video yet but from what i remember, she told damon on the phone that she was going to stefan, and she obviously knew he would be upset about it given his feelings for her, so i felt like it was necessary for her to say that, and that it’s not a surprise that she would say something like that. again, she’s always been sympathetic towards damon about this situation. i also don’t see how it made it seem like damon had a chance, when she already had made her decision and was driving to stefan as they were talking on the phone. it was pure fan service. and i don’t know where you’re getting your information from but im pretty sure stelena stans were gleaming😭

He lost his love, his bestfriend and possibly his brother at the same time, thats so sad. This ep i remember feeling like i totally got how delena fans felt, not because i like them(delena) but because Elena finally made her choice but then they show that Damon actually met Elena first. That just makes it still seem like she hasn't actually made her choice, that sucks as Stefan fan. As in i understand how frustrating it is when delena finally have a good moment but then stelena has a good moment right after. I felt like i needed to elaborate x) I love that Stefan always makes the right choices etc but this one was not it for me haha. If it was Jeremy in the car, then i get it but Matt.. anyways, i know he had to because thats what Elena wanted.

2024-09-14 05:42:10 +0000 UTCOne of the more underrated aspects of Stefan and Elena’s dynamic is just how much freedom of choice he offers her considering Elena as a doppelgänger is constantly being robbed of her dignity and autonomy. It seems like such a little thing, but it’s so important for the life that Elena leads. Choosing to save Matt over Elena takes a lot of strength on Stefan’s part, and the fact that he couldn’t take that choice away from her, even knowing she could die, is so special to me.

The fact she said if they would've met first then maybe which I feel you wouldn't doubt your feelings for Stefan that much if he was fully 100% the best decision you could make. There's a quote about if you truly love someone you would've of fallen for someone else. Someone else giving you something you didn't get from the person before. I think Elena really wanted to pick Damon but had the doubts and fears of her friends and Jeremy also the feeling of what Stefan gave her when he came into town. When she said Damon consumes her, which was the words Damon said to Elena before he compelled her to forget always made me believe her feelings for Damon was so strong that twice in this season she said the word "consume" when he came to feelings and that IMO sounds like their connection was so strong, compulsion broke in a way or at least that word escaped lol. Just my thoughts and theories from this episode. The other episode she said consume was the bed scene when she spoke about Becca's feelings and Damon even made an expression his face after she said that word. Stefan would save the world for Elena, Damon would sacrifice the world for Elena. BOTH strong acts of love for Elena, Idk why people compare that with this finale because it just shows that Elena has two guys who love her and would do anything for her. I see the good and bad traits in both, I personally love delena over stelena but stelena s1-2 will always have a piece of my heart. It was so wholesome. Delena just gives me the feeling like im always on my toes and the passion bursts from the screen. I can go on and on why I love delena more but I won't lol. But it doesn't make stelena any less for me or for the impact it gives Elena and her life.

2024-09-14 03:34:16 +0000 UTCIn my opinion, a great quality that Elena possesses is her complete selflessness in regards to life and death when it comes to her family and friends. With that being said, what’s special between Stefan and Elena’s dynamic is that he loves her so much, he puts HER wants and needs above his. Her desires take complete reign even if it is a tough one. Letting Matt die and saving her would have put a strain on their dynamic because Elena’s love for those important to her is central to her character. It would have ripped her apart and ultimately, I think this extreme action shows the audience how Stefan as a character will always put Elena first…meaning all of Elena even if it doesn’t serve him. Ignoring Elena’s wishes could have been seen as selfish and self serving for Stefan if he ultimately saved her life out of love instead of honoring her wish BECAUSE he loves her. If Stefan had saved Elena instead of Matt, that would have destroyed the core of their relationship which is built upon Stefan allowing Elena to have full autonomy as she should. That means the ability to choose. It also parallels Stefan trying to save Elena’s parents and her father telling him to save Elena instead. It would have destroyed Elena to know that Stefan disregarded her wishes and allowed Matt to die. It would have destroyed the foundation of the relationship between Stefan and Elena knowing that Stefan decided for her. It’s the main difference between Stefan and Damon..Damon wants to control Elena and he chooses for her. Stefan respects Elena in a way that reflects how he truly knows who she is. It’s also why she’s in love with him. I think that’s a very intricate idea but it brings into perspective how much respect he has for Elena even in such an incredibly difficult circumstance. Stefan has always valued Elena in a way that allows her to make her own decisions. It made sense in that way for Elena to become a vampire by saving someone else’s life. Stefan and Elena have the same self-sacrificial quality along with so many of other parallels as characters. Her death in the same spot where her parents died and where she almost died before the events of the season one pilot, feels like a full circle moment and a fitting conclusion to her human life. While it is fitting, I do believe Elena becoming a vampire should have happened later or never. I think that Stefan could have saved both Elena and Matt easily if the writing consistently made sense but I think this was just an excuse to finally turn Elena into a vampire (even if the how doesn’t make complete sense) and also have this moment of fan service where Stefan following Elena’s wishes can be turned into a “but why didn’t Stefan save Elena if he loves her so much?” thing by fans who don’t see the beauty in Stefan’s unconditional love and respect for Elena as a human character who above all, values domain over her own life. That’s an important showing of love between his character and hers. Most of this finale was Julie Plec trying to establish some sort of the same pre-destined narrative that Stefan and Elena have and flipping it to aid in a plot armor created to set up Elena and Damon possibilities while trying to diminish Stelena. It was definitely added for more poor Damon sympathy nonsense lol.

I always knew Elena would become a vampire at some point but wasn't expecting it at that time or in that way. The car scene is weirdly very emotional and ridiculous at the same time. Elena is there fighting with Stefan and telling him to save Matt while she's literally drowning and wasting precious time. Also, why didn't Stefan help her unbuckle her seatbelt? And doesn't he have super speed? But Nina's acting along with the Sigur Rós song (which as an Icelander I was freaking out about!) made me cry so much 😭 And I'm sure if it was up to him he would've saved her but I LOVE that Stefan loves and respects Elena enough to follow her wishes and save her friend because he knows how much her friends and family mean to her. I also love this quote: "That's what love should be. You should love the person that makes you glad to be alive". I will ALWAYS be a Stelena shipper ❤ Damon: "You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for". Elena: "When I'm with him, it just consumes me" As you know, I'm not a Delena shipper but the paralells are insane. Btw, I know it's been a long time since you've seen this Rob but how could you forget Elena dying and turning? I really thought you accidentally spoiled it! Fun facts: The plot to turn Elena into a vampire had been in the works since the series began. Initially, it was to be used by the end of the 2nd season. Elena dies exactly the same way she did in the books but it was Katherine who caused her death, not Rebekah. The ending scene when Elena is in the hospital's morgue and wakes up in transition is very similar to the scene where Bella wakes up as a vampire at the end of Breaking Dawn Part 1. This is the highest rated episode out of all 8 seasons. The initial airing attracted 2.53 million viewers. Goofs: Stefan and Matt state that Damon is a 100 miles out of town and cannot get back within 1 hour. However, as shown multiple times throughout the series, Damon is capable of running so fast that he would have been able to return to Mystic Falls well within 1 hour. Also, Alaric is called Elena's guardian but she has already turned 18.
