Some of my favorites that you haven't seen (ranked in order) are Sweeney Todd, Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story (1961), and Hamilton (the filmed theater version). Oh man, Sweeney Todd just has absolutely banger music, a sick artistic style, and a killer plot. As you can tell from my top 3, my musical preferences lean a bit darker. After getting more musicals under your belt, it would also be fun for you to watch the (short) TV show Schmigadoon. It's kind of a part parody, part homage, part love letter to musicals. Highly recommend.

It really keeps you guessing as to what is going on! It's on Netflix and Paramount Plus. and it's only 8 episodes.... they are filming season 2 right now :)

2024-09-17 18:55:45 +0000 UTCThey need a break from such a long show after TVD's 8 seasons. OTH is even longer at 9 seasons. I would highly recommend for them to watch The O.C. — it's only 4 seasons and no one should miss out on Sandy Cohen, a total mensch and THE greatest tv dad ever.
