Stefan and Elena and the doppleganger are brought together by a spell, their love is not out of personal choice. Damon and Elena is out of free will. Theirs is a real choice because they choce each other because of who they are, what they want, what they like, what they see themselves in the future with. That is why Elena never seen a future with Stefan , but saw a future with Damon immediatelly, he is her free will choice and she knows that, their love is treu love, the other one is a spell, not true love. Elena and Stefan had very little in common, Damon and Elena are very similar. She is Damon's life an he is hers, no question about it and no universe or spell can tell them otherwise.
