2024-11-30 23:18:32 +0000 UTCI wasn’t really talking about what fans said bc I know they make up stuff, people who worked on the set said it was awkward between them and it got progressively worse to the point where ian made it clear he didn’t enjoy filming scenes with Nina anymore. The awkwardness was never from Nina’s side according to one of the makeup artists that worked s4-8, she said it was mostly Ian because the fan pressure got to him more.

2024-11-30 08:56:34 +0000 UTCI wouldn't believe anything fans (esp most fans who talk about them weren't fans when the show came out, from what I noticed) have said about them esp in terms of what went on set since I literally remember their friendship after their breakup. They had a public friendship, idk if you were a on social media during tvd airing but I was and I can swear on everything, it was fine from what we saw on social media with Nina's, tvd account, Paul postings and bts. The only thing factual in terms of awkwardness or annoyance is after s6 and Ian's disgust of toxic fans during s7-8 since he actually expressed that. That is when Ian and his wife experienced the worse amount of hate. Yes there was some before s7 but as you remember s6, their chemistry is on point. Nina used to post Ian and her friendship during the filming of season 5 and even in s6. Like the cake she put on him. You can also see them joking around during season 5 and 6 bloopers. I dont really see the lack of chemistry but if there is I would just assume the direction of the writers since they were still trying to wheel in hope for stelena fans during s5 because after 4x23 a huge portion of stelena were upset under Julie's post/twitter and she would do anything to tease a return for them, like more fights or stefan venting about Elena or like having Elena almost kissing stefan when he didnt remember.

It all ties back to his childhood where his father treated him terribly, to Katherine playing around with his love for years. He always felt like he wasn’t good enough for anyone which is heartbreaking.

He has done so many good things for Elena, and everyone else in the group multiple times. Enzo’s speech to Damon must have broken him down completely and made him give up.

She wants to believe her father was good, but in reality, her father has also done so much horrible things. No one ever wants to believe your parent has done awful things to people and it’s hard to accept that.
