2024-11-15 01:55:21 +0000 UTCI’ve always hated the “fated to be together” storyline, it’s clearly something the writers threw in to keep the elan/damon/stefan triangle going, just like the sire bond was. I struggle with shows that change the rules of their world, or make up new silly rules, to suit a particular character arch or fanbase. It’s pandering to the audience and brings the standard down and at the expense of quality character development/storyline. Just a humble opinion.

Honestly, I'm Team Stelena forever and always but them being "destined to be together" didn't really change anything for me, except for the double meaning of Elena telling Stefan "We have history together" in the pilot. But, though it does make for some unintentional foreshadowing, it was also in regards to Stefan's history with Katherine. So, while Elena and Stefan were probably destined to meet and even be together (that goes beyond Elena looking identical to Katherine), they stayed together because they worked on their relationship. That's the thing, whether you believe in soulmates or not, relationship takes hard work. It's not supposed to be easy EVEN IF it's meant to be. So Stelena stayed together for as long as they did (and went through some rocky times), not because of the doppelgänger soulmate thing, but because they loved and trusted each other. And as someone already said, if I were a Delena fan I would be even more for them because they are literally fighting against destiny. Btw, from what we know so far of Silas: He is a special kind of warlock known as a traveller (after Tessa created the immortality spell the travellers were cursed by other witches to be unable to settle, hence their name, as well as to be unable to use magic the traditional way), the first immortal man and a very distant ancestor of the Salvatore family bloodline. Even though he is not considered a vampire, he does have common vampire traits: Immortal, drinks blood, doesn't age, has superhuman strength, enhanced reflexes/senses, can compel/mind control people and heals fast. But he can also teleport, shape-shift into other people, create illusions (making others see whatever he wants them to see) and do magic. Qetsiyah needs Stefan for her plan to kill Silas. The only accurate thing Silas said is that nature created doppelgängers as a loophole due to the disruption of the balance of nature when the immortality spell was created. Also, Zuff is right, Katherine's blood is the cure since the cure runs through her veins.

He won’t let anyone come between them no matter what. His love for Elena is so powerful. I have no doubt that they will fight destiny to be together.
