The Problem with IDW Sonic (Audio)

Got a broader subject to talk about with this video while I drop the Fang series online.

Again apologies for rushing those out, but I'll be compiling the entire series and releasing it to you guys before part 4 drops for the public! Got my computer working again and finally getting internet at my place in a few days, so we will be ramping up projects soon!

In my spare time, I review for the comic and nerd news website AIPT.com. For about two years, I was THE guy for reviewing Sonic comics. I had to stop. Not because the books were getting bad, but because they were getting stale. Repetative. Losing that lustre as it felt like I was just reading the same toned down beats over and over. I love Ian's work, I love Stanley's, and Danny's especially (scrapnik is still the most creatively fresh work to come out of IDW in my opinion), but as a fan, I YEARN for the more creatively open world of Archie. Even the later years where they had to clean a lot up and reboot, I still felt like it was a universe that fostered creativity and forged it's own path, and wasn't bound to a higher corperate vision. That's been a massive problem fans have had with Marvel comics in the decade since the Avengers came out, and I fear Sonic's IDW tenture may have it worse. It's seasonal rot, in a form. I remember listening to a bumblekast where Ian was SHOCKED Danny was able to even pitch Scrapnik, let alone get it told in the form it was in. I almost feel like he's become too used to colouring inside the lines, and doesn't have that boldness to push the boundries after all these years trying, and his fresh perspective he had when he was a young buck just isn't applicable today (understandable, who's is?). I love the guy's work and all he's done for the franchise, but I hope he and the rest are allowed to keep pushing the envelope again, in some form.
