You can really understand Enzo's envy of Stefan because everything he said in the conversation with Matt is true. He wants to be loved by someone who puts him first. I look forward to seeing more of him in the future.

2025-01-20 02:59:55 +0000 UTCI'll try to explain Enzo's motives to you, at least what I've understood over the years I've been watching TVD. From the beginning, what he knows about Stefan is that he was a bad brother to Damon, his best friend promised Stefan an eternity of suffering. When Enzo first met Stefan, I don't know if you'll remember, but in a disagreement, Stefan said that if Enzo ever died, it would be at his hands, which did happen (not that it was exactly Stefan's fault). So Damon and Bonnie go to the prison world of 94, Enzo was creating “bonds” with some characters, especially Caroline, we saw both of them fighting to bring them back somehow. What I'm going to say about Enzo is that he's very loyal (you'll find out more about his story in the future and maybe this explanation will align), so when he sees a brother give up on the other, the one who was his best friend and almost a brother to him (regardless of everything Damon did, because as I said Enzo is loyal and tries to hold on to his bonds as long as he can) he can't believe it, as well as mistreating Caroline who has always been by Stefan's side. Basically, he understands that all the loyalty these people offer Stefan is undeserved, even after everything in the end it's as if he never made a mistake and these people came back to him so easily. Matt, despite everything, is a character who is loyal to his friends, something that Enzo is too, perhaps this prevents him from killing him, as well as the fact that he is screaming inside to create some kind of bond, being loyal in his own twisted way to these people who have only used him as Stefan's stepping-stone, is a desperate measure against someone who for him deserves nothing of what he has.
