Haha, I LOVE this story SO MUCH!!

I just love how my hopeless romantic ass felt in love with the song and rushed to dedicate it to my husband before even listening to the final part of it πŸ˜‚so now in this household we skip the last bit and act like it is just a sweet love song where we are growing black irisis in the sunshine. Also, I’d like to thank you for all your dedication and wish good luck with the move πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Thank you!! I love the way you imagined that last bit! And you are totally right-- the fact that he was romanticizing the one-night stand does say a lot about the character! I love your inferences and interpretations! Thanks for sharing!

good luck on your moving, english teacher KP! I hope this isn't too exhausting for you πŸ’š i love this song so much. the sound is just so much fun! if the album is a musical, jackie and wilson is a character song, more so than a plot song. we learned a lot about our narrator and what motivated him to move through the world the way he did. it's juvenile and silly, but also sad. there's an underlying tone of loneliness throughout this whole song that made him romanticize a fricking one night stand in the first place. i just can imagine him digging a grave full of his skin suits, dusting them off of soil, picking the best one for the day to put on, and moving through the world again
