Simple Glute and Hip Roll
Added 2023-07-21 17:32:43 +0000 UTCHey guys,
Today is a simple glute roll that can become a staple in your life. Here’s what happens: your glutes are so strong, they’re what propel you forward when you walk and run and they’re also what support so much of your posture as you stand (there are obviously other groups involved here, too, but the glutes are major). Because they have all these jobs, on top of emotional holding patterns, the tension that can build up here is deep. When there is an excess of tension in any muscle group, it stops operating as optimally as it can, triggering the need for other muscle groups to kick in harder.
Like…the calves and achilles.
And of course, the low back muscles…quadratus lumborum and erector spinae most of all.

The glutes are also really good at concealing their tension because they aren’t as delicate as these other muscles groups, so they don’t have the same sensitivity in terms of pain. Often when the glutes stop supporting us, they’ll recruit these other muscle groups that result in symptoms of pain before we can detect that it’s the glutes that are causing those pain symptoms in other areas because of their lack of engagement.
K, SO WHAT NOW…? Now that you can see that your plantar fasciitis or low back aches might just be a matter of the glutes turning back on, let’s reconnect to the glutes with our foam roller in this super simple rolling routine.
Enjoy!
Love,
Maggie
