New Sketch

Yesterday was a long and emotionally draining day. After feeling pretty burned out, sitting into a room, listening to fantasy music and just sketching away for an hour did wonders for the soul. Looking at the Hildebrandt Brothers artworks made me realize that I'd like to paint more in the realm that feels like it's coming from a fable. That doesn't mean it has to be from an actual fable, but at least feel more dreamy than what I paint right now.
To explain the sketch - the blue area is a lake in the forest, the red on top is a settlement with a tower on the hill. The focal point of the piece should be this huge rather pale stone that I have imagined to look like a really hard dragon egg with a surface like polished stone, with a young deer laying beside it, resting its head on the smooth stone.
The biggest challenge will be the lighting (as always), but it somehow doesn't scare me right now. We'll see if I can bring the painting in my head to life.
