As the first droplets of rain began to fall, the wizard hastened his steps homeward. The lantern on his stave cast a warm glow, illuminating the path ahead. In his mind, he envisioned the shelves of his cozy home, lined with old books and some curious artifacts that he picked up on his travels. With each step, his anticipation for the hearth's warm embrace grew stronger, the allure of knowledge and the comfort of home urging him forward. While hurrying to his home at the lake, he appreciated the rain, as he knew that the plants needed it after this long summer.
Hi everyone!
Well, this was a journey. Making illustrations that start out that dark are always a challenge for me, as the "treat" of being able to finally put some light into the piece and have it become warm and calming always comes at the very end, which means that I have to drag myself through painting only dark tones for about 90% of the coloring. It was totally worth it though, I am really proud of this piece, especially as I have probably never done a piece with rain in it. Being proud of an artwork is something that doesn't happen too often with me. As you surely have recognized, I am not one of these artists who thinks all their pieces are really bad and feels just straight up bad about them, but it's a seldom occurrence in my journey to be actually proud of the work.
Anyways, enough rambling - have a nice upcoming week!
Best,
Simon
