Hi everyone!
After getting back to my dayjob after the vacation, the art side moves more slowly. Yet the travels of our small wizard continue!
This piece made me overthink my lineart again, but maybe it isn't even a bad thing if I don't have a fixed pen that just always gets used to draw no matter the subject. In a way, it adds a bit of roughness to the piece when done like this, yet the cleaner lines from other pieces give a more clean impression over all. When I think of Moebius, he pretty much always drew in clean lines, which is what draws me in so much. Drawing with clean lines instead of rather loose one gives off a lot confidence. It could probably be compared with drawing with a pencil vs. a ballpoint pen. The clean lines "commit", which draws me in magically when seeing other artists do that. Yet I guess this balance can't be solved in the head only, there will probably need to be dozens of other pieces to carve out a personal favorite, and I recently found a bit more patience with myself regarding these "problems". If you compare the artists journey to that of a football player, we're not out for the count after turning 30. For some amazing artists, they hadn't even taken things serious at that point. The realization that I hopefully have another 40 years or so of drawing in front of me made me feel way more patient, and I hope this thought calms one of your minds as well, no matter if it's art related or not.
Anyways, hope you enjoy seeing the piece and process, I might make the wizard a bit more "chonky" in the future ^^
Best,
Simon
