New Lineart and Update

Hi everyone!

Just checking in with you to tell you that I am still alive and drawing. There has never been a "I will post x times a week" on here, but it feels wrong to just leave you hanging without new content.

So while I am way slower with finishing pieces due to my girlfriend opening up her own salon which takes up a lot of time besides my dayjob, I want to show you the lineart for the next piece.

The setting and details are something that I'm proud of, yet the thickness of the lines could be thinner next time in my opinion. It's still cool though, it gives it more of a comic look rather than almost being painted. What I'm not so sure about is if I'd like to draw the roof tiles thinner or at least not have too many of them, if even at all. It could also be worth looking into drawing an iron roof, maybe not this time, but in another drawing. I used to think of them as ugly and unnatural of sorts, but they usually develop a lot of moss, lichen and stains on them that "paint" them in so many different colors. They are also easy to produce and substitute, which would probably make them an option that is used a lot in Argenta.

As I said in the last piece though, trying out different linethickness with lineart is a constant trying out and feeling the waters, and it also depends a lot on the type of scene that I want to draw. There is no right or wrong with this, I've seen art that has really thick lineart and it's looks absolutely gorgeous, and then there is art like the one of Alariko with thinner lineart that really lets the colors shine as well:

By the way, I recently fell in love with Frédéric Pillots art again, and I definitely want to get braver with my compositions.

Here is the link - his art is INSANE. Of course we're very different in terms of style, but I love how he exaggerates certain proportions and composition, shaping the objects and people in his pieces to his own taste. Definitely a treat for your eyes if you'd like to look at amazing art for some minutes.

Anyways, this text is getting too long, I'll stop now :)

Have a nice week! I'll be back as soon as possible with the finished piece!

Best,
Simon
