Multiverse And A Vampire CH29
Added 2022-07-29 08:23:11 +0000 UTCHaving shadow clones was wonderful and horrible. It was like living each day dozens of different times at once. My skills continued to grow while I worked on my body. Ascension could be leveled without dying, and once that skill his master level, I would finally gain a level in my old job, Monk of Destruction. On the other hand, my clones ran wild the second my eyes were off them. They were me with limited time to do what they wanted. So, they went out of their way to make their time memorable. For instance, my clone who went out into the world to make money used chakra to transform into a woman.
No, I didn’t fantasize about being a woman, but the option to change my appearance was incredible. My spy clone took the new knowledge in stride and made his way to Tokyo. He had a lead from a yakuza about some freaky foreigners. My clone went there to infiltrate their group by replacing one of their members. If it all went well, I would have information to sell to the yakuza to begin a working relationship.
I flicked the gravity room up to 50g while wearing some weights Raven made for me. My training weights on my wrists, legs, and chest had increased to 200tons together.
That girl was all kinds of sarcastic, but she cared. So, when she asked me a question, and I had trouble answering it, I felt bad. The question had been simple what was qi? But, it was simple but hard to describe.
Chakra acted as a buffer for my qi and helped improve my body. Qi wasn’t pleasant for the body to deal with or souls. It was considered spiritual, but it wasn’t a soul though it forced my soul’s spiritual energy to rise and vice versa. Steel sharpens steel, but my qi isn’t my soul or a force of it, and its interaction with the physical world makes it seem physical except for its impact on my soul. Some in the old world referred to it as merely the power or the dao.
Qi can linger when the soul's light has been extinguished and the body perishes. The mind can rot into nothing, memories can fade, but qi lingers on stubbornly persistent. My qi remains independent of my memories with no mind, body, or soul. If a soul is a kind of record of the mind and body, then qi may be the spark of consciousness that the mind and body create. It’s the illusion of consciousness, but that doesn’t explain how it can affect reality.
There is no I, I is an illusion cut out my thoughts and background noise, and all that’s left is the qi. It’s the persistence in the face of meaninglessness.
Of course, that isn’t what I’m going to tell Raven. It’s a bit too pretentious even if it is the truth.
I punched and kicked, feeling the strain of my muscles under 50Gs with my weights on. Every punch, kick, and step felt like a triumph. My body was getting pushed further down the path of transcendence, and my mortal limits were breaking. Yet, even without a cultivation technique, there were ways forward for me.
God’s system was in the way, but I would crack it eventually; my shadow clones were out in the world while I made myself physically stronger. Another clone was in a dark cave spamming Seventh Divine Cruz in the form of a concentrated laser. I theorized that I could use it through my eyes once the skill was at a high enough rank. Heat vision would be awesome even if it was a highly modified light skill.
Once my clone reached Britain and robbed the goblins, I would have a lot of capital to work with. All I had to do was find a way to launder the money, and then I could find a surgeon. Madara’s eyes and the heart of Siegfried would make my body even more powerful. A dragon’s invulnerability and magic core combined with the Sharingan and Susanoo could make me rather powerful.
Everything was falling into place. With a little more time, I would be ready to take on Alucard and put that demon to rest. That would free me up to marry Moka and set my eyes on other enemies. God would pay for establishing a system that limited my power.
I’ve heard of the bastard’s book and how it contradicted itself constantly but still managed to be the best seller in the world. Even I bought a copy and tried reading it, but I couldn’t be past the incest. Who in their right mind starts off with brother husbands and uncle fathers with no sex scenes? Also, it was bland with tons of expositions. Couldn’t the author have Adam rail Eve while giving the exposition? God’s editor needed to be fired.
A knock on the door knocked me out of my thoughts. I tapped the shut-off button and relaxed as gravity returned to normal. Gin walked in with a big smile on his face.
“They’re here.” Gin said, and I rushed to grab my shirt as he led me outside. The second I stepped outside, Kurumu tackled me in a hug. Moka smiled to the side as dozens of trucks filled with cattle backed up to the entrance to the fence.
“So, you want to farm cows,” Raven said.
“I plan the farm the best-tasting cows in the world. Don’t doubt my ability to produce. We have about 30 head right now, but by next year we could have well over a hundred.” We have grass that won’t stop growing year-round, and soon the cows will be tougher too. If there is one thing my qi, does it enhance life?
“But not your own,” Moka said.
I looked over at her with a raised eyebrow. “Too much of something can be a bad thing. If a cow had as much of my qi in their bodies as I have, they would melt into a puddle.” I said and didn’t mention they could spontaneously develop sapience, grow into giants, become monsters, and nearly anything else. Qi that enhanced life was as dangerous as it was useful. I had to keep the amount I gave to a bare minimum and take my dividends when I could.
“Don’t wait up. I’m going to break in these cows, then let them explore their new pasture.” I said and approached the horse trailer of a big mean looking bull.
He shook about a ton of muscle and snorted at me when I approached. The brute rammed himself against his cage, and I laughed. I grabbed his horn, and the bull froze. He wasn’t anything special and not intelligent enough to battle me in a game of wills. I subdued him in moments, and his body suffused with a light green glow invisible to anyone without qi. I flicked my sleeve like I’ve seen so many young masters do in comics and my old world.
I turned to find Moka watching me with a smile on her face. “What was that thing with your sleeve?” Moka said.
“The sleeve flick,” Moka groaned, and suddenly it didn’t seem as cool as it had in my head.
“Hey, it’s a cultivator thing,” I said.
Moka smiled, revealing her fangs. “We will rehearse an hour a day until you are officially introduced to my family. Things will be chaotic enough without you causing a scene.”
“I thought it looked cool,” Raven said with a smirk.
Moka turned her nose away. “We can’t afford to invite enemies with uncouth mannerisms. If you think they will think it's cool and not another reason to single him out as human, then you’re mistaken.” Moka said.
“Chill, we aren’t in public; it's just us,” Raven sighed. “Fiancé, be himself when we are alone; he can learn how to be a proper vampire in public.”
Kurumu couldn’t help but barge into the conversation. “Who cares what they think? If they don’t like it, we can move away, and they won’t be a problem.”
I patted the bull on the head and released him. He walked to the gait and waited patiently to be let in. The other cows were much easier to subdue than even the bull, and soon they were all unloaded.
“Yea, werewolf society can be brutal too, and you can’t leave. Packs talk and ghosting one could get you shunned. There are rules for what to do when the pack leader steps out of line. Though most of them involve challenging him to settle our differences.”
Once the cows were subdued and in the fence, I focused on my girls. With only three of them, my life was getting chaotic. I had expectations to meet, new enemies, and a need for money I hadn’t had before. Girls were expensive, and none of Kurumu’s dresses were cheap. Raven had already frowned more than once at the price of underwear. Ok, Raven always frowned, but there was her usual frown and the sad one. Moka was drinking my blood more than normal, and I joked about her getting fat; it was a hard week without sex with her. Kurumu constantly hinted to meet her mother, but so much was happening.
Humans were getting the drug and becoming superheroes. My clone was going to get on a plane tomorrow, and I suddenly had a headache from one of my clones burning out his eyes with seventh divine Cruz. So it was back to the drawing board with that technique. I sucked in a breath and sighed; all I could do was handle the problems as they came.
Moka didn’t back away when I kissed her and hugged her tightly. She struggled for a heartbeat before giving in. When we broke away, she blushed a little and looked around her, ready to attack at any moment.
“I’ll learn whatever you need me to. We’ll take it an hour a day like you said, and they won’t be able to tell the difference between a vampire and me. So don’t worry about a thing. Let’s make some smoothies and find something scary to watch.” I turned to Raven, who looked a little unsure. “A horror comedy then, like evil dead 2,” I said, and Moka finally relaxed.
“No shadow clones, I want you with me and not a glory-seeking skirt-chasing clone of you. I’ll know if you try to go back on your word.” Moka said.
I smiled not because I had planned to send a clone but because I had already decided that I wanted to experience this time with Moka myself and not through a memory. Teaching me how to be a proper vampire of the Shuzen household was important to Moka, which made it important to me. After my clone memories returned, I realized the truth. There were some things I wanted to experience myself. Time with my girls was at the top of the list. So, I decided to make time to see Kurumu’s mother with her and talk more with my girls. Experiencing lives that felt finite had changed me for the better; I chose to be more active.
A clone’s memory from Tokyo hit me, and I froze. “What’s wrong?” Moka asked.
“He’s scared; something terrible has happened,” Raven said.
I straightened up and made a cross sign. Then, three clones appeared who also spawned more clones. We didn’t say a word; they immediately took off towards the bus. Hopefully, the bus driver wasn’t on break or anything.
My body shook in a twisted mix of anxiety and unending rage. I wanted to destroy, decimate, and obliterate the fools trying to end the world. A bomb, there was a bomb or multiple bombs in Tokyo. I didn’t know what kind, but I didn’t think it was a nuke, but a group of religious extremists was planning on using bombs to destroy Tokyo. Because it was the city of the devil. On space book, the devil himself, Sirzechs Lucifer, posted that Tokyo was his favorite city; he’s found so many good deals there.
It’s a hypothesis on my part, but I think the extremists believe he’s talking about devil contracts instead of the arm full of anime merchandise in his arms. The K-On figurines saying happy birthday Rias definitely clued me in on that fact.
“If you have any family in Tokyo or know anyone who does, tell them to get out now.” My eyes widened at a sudden realization. My parents were there for a conference, she mentioned it on our last phone call. I needed to get my mother on the phone.
