There was such a TV series in Russia, in 2008, it was called literally: "Ranettes" and was about a half-real musical group of young girls, which was called just like these apples and/or the TV series. Although they were actresses and acted in the TV series, yet their music went far beyond the TV series and was very popular, especially among school children. π
