2021-01-10 18:19:01 +0000 UTCMaul is still obsessed about killing Obi-Wan. It is pretty sad. The reason he said he was looking for "Hope" is because Obi-Wan is his only hope for closure in his mind. If Obi-Wan is dead, he can't get revenge on him and thus will never have closure. As for Palpatine, Maul wants him dead too, but he knows he can't defeat him at this point. Maul wanted to use the Sith temple superweapon on Malachor from the season 2 finale to defeat Palpatine, but since it was destroyed he doesn't have a way to defeat Palpatine anymore. So he's banking all his hopes on Obi-Wan.

I find it funny that Ezra wants to find the key to destroy the Sith , which is Luke (as he redeems Anakin who then kills Palpatine). Maul wants to find Obi-Wan. Coincidentally, Luke and Obi-Wan are both in the same place: Tatooine.
