2021-02-28 12:35:18 +0000 UTCSo its the spectacle of a lightsaber fight versus the deeper meaning of the scene. Yes we could have seen two old men past their prime doing backflips. But one, it shows that even for all of Maul's years of obsession and effort, its supposed to be anticlimactic. Maul did all this crazy futile stuff just to get this result. Plus, Obi-Wan has spent years coming to peace with himself and growing, and Maul has just regressed and stayed the same, blinded by revenge.

2021-02-28 12:17:57 +0000 UTCWhen Obi-Wan begins his duel with Maul, he purposely switches from his usual stance to Qui-Gon's stance, knowing that Maul will recognize it. Maul attempts to kill obi-Wan the same way he killed Qui-Gon, by hitting him in the face with his lightsaber hilt. However, Obi-Wan wanted him to do this and thus he is immediately able to counter by slicing right through Maul's saber hilt and into his chest, killing him.

2021-02-28 12:11:50 +0000 UTCWhen Maul mentions the Chosen One, he means Luke, as Maul and Obi-Wan mistakenly believe him to be the Chosen One. Of course, Anakin is the Chosen One, but Luke is the catalyst for him fulfilling the prophecy.
