Like i said with the Harry's episode lots of these early season episodes are more filler for character development then anything else. The side plot is just something to show that the rest of crew isnt just relaxing on the beach and theyve struggled the whole way back home. even though in some situations like this one they or rather the captain put them in that struggle.
