Fun Fact, the band Mastodon were huge fans of the show and were cast as some of the white walkers (shown in front when they pan over the newly risen dead).

2023-02-20 20:59:42 +0000 UTCoh also another note which you probably know now since i’m a few episodes behind is that jon’s sword is valyrian steel. so dragonglass/obsidian and valyrian steel kill white walkers most likely because they are fire based weapons (obsidian forms in volcanic areas and valyrian steel is forged with fire and blood magic). also it’s not like the walking dead where getting bit turns you, they just have to be brought back by the white walkers

2023-02-02 00:43:00 +0000 UTCso it’s not made very evident in the show but the book gives more insight on how cersei was the one who killed robert. she was having lancel, her cousin and robert’s cupbearer, strongwine instead of regular wine. this wine tends to be double or more the strength of regular wine. she did this knowing that alcohol makes robert more reckless and was hoping that he would die on the hunt due to a wound from an animal, and this plan worked perfectly.

They both have awful families and feelings about obligations to legacies, etc. I have mixed feelings about Theon/Reek, similarly to the way I feel about Cersei and Jamie.

I’m not even kidding. There’s some days where I wish I could be on stand by in Zoom or some shit, and watch the episode with you to answer questions on real time. And then I react to something you said and I realize that might not work unless I’m muted 😆 Something to think about sorta outside GoT is the Wildling/Nights Watch conflict. How it could compare to modern era border conflicts. People who are “different” only because they where born just outside your normative boundaries. The whole ordeal in Hardhome isn’t in the books. It’s mentioned briefly in a message from Eastwatch by the Sea (the NW castle closest to the Wildling town) to Castle Black but Jon doesn’t go, so we never really knew what happened there. Easily one of the best non-book things that they added to the show. When the White Walkers showed up, it was some Black Friday shit on them boats. Yeah, Jon Snow = Captain Save A Hoe. The giant’s name is Wun Wun because I know you respected his game. And the Wildling lady was Karsi. We all hated to see her go that fast. She was cool AF. Listen, you know it’s serious when they end an episode without music. Just let you mellow on that boat rocking and water hitting up against the side. 5x9 does some shit, which you already knew. There is good with the bad. Best to eat it and get it over with. It’s the next to last episode 9.

Not liking Margery ok fine but the way she talks to people, treats the poor, laughs at others suffering, just all that gets under my skin

2022-12-29 21:15:47 +0000 UTCIn defense of Cersei, she was raised without her mom, married off to King Rob, was actually in love with him and looking forward to it, but he calls her Lyanna (Ned’s sister’s name) during the act, he sleeps around with whores and anyone else, so she turned to the only person she felt like she could trust and they fell in love (gross, yes). They have three kids, and while Joffrey is terrible, she did try to stop him from cutting off Ned’s head, and her other two children are lovely and kind. Speaking as a mom who has watched kids do shocking things, not Joffrey level, but at some point, people are who they are, regardless of how hard you try to steer them. They are going to be who they are. Cersei is stuck in the position she was in and using whatever power she had from it to try to keep her and her family safe. I think she really does see Margerie and Olena as threats to Tommen’s safety. I thinks that’s also why she was kind of nice to Sansa, because she didn’t really consider her a threat, she was more docile.

2022-12-29 20:59:15 +0000 UTCSo back in S1, after Jamie fought Ned outside Little Finger’s brothel and then left King’s Landing to meet up with Tywin, Cersei was shown hooking up with her cousin Lancel Lannister (end of S1 thru S2, Tyrion uses it to get Lancel to spy on Cersei for him) - King Rob’s cup barer. So Cersei gave him the wine to give to the King on his hunt with the boar. Lancel came back for Tywin’s funeral as a sparrow now and at the funeral, confronted her about both the incest and the King’s wine. Cersei played it off like she didn’t know what he was talking about though.
