I canβt stand Tarka so his backstory did nothing for me either, and it did take away from getting more progress on the story. However, without spoiling anything, it does come to a satisfying conclusion, in my opinion.

Engineers go to assigned terminals/constantly repairing things so they dont break, Medics stand by in medbay, security guards entrances, and delegates/guests relax in there room or bug the bridge officers about what going on lol.
