How To Get Away With Murder 2x09 "What Did We Do?" Full Reaction

Yes the multilayered writing and massive set up they do is insane. They really know how to take these characters to their breaking points… just when you think it can’t get worse… 😮‍💨 Really hoping to get into Laurel’s past soon…

Big Bro & Lil Sis Reacts

Okay, so we start off with Michaela and Rainbow eyes showing the gun to Connor. Why Michaela called Connor first of all people is beyond me. I get that they've somehow become the closest two in the group, but Connor has constantly shown to want no parts in anything sketchy since Sam's death lol. He's the shooting star. And because she went to Connor instead of Annalise, Catherine finds out and flees. Maybe Michaela doesn't need anymore orgasms lol. Now, the whole team knows what's up and Annalise has to fix everything. Meanwhile, Nate gets harassed for the millionth time, now for helping. Why Nate risking it all for Annalise at this point is beyond me. I guess he lost his wife and has no one else, but I'd stay as a far away from Annalise as possible after everything he's been through since episode 1 from dealing with her lol. He's been suspended, fired, and imprisoned, and that was just season 1 lol. The worst part is Sinclair doesn't even care about Nate. Her beef is with Annalise and she's willing to use Nate any which way in her obsession to take Annalise down. To make matters worse, Asher's father killed himself and in turn, Asher's mother HATES him now. He thought it was Sinclair that leaked everything, when it was really Annalise after promising Asher that she wouldn't. I guess we, but Annalise is clearly better at reading people and manipulation than Sinclair, who probably should have watched her words to a man who just and is blaming her for it, by not bad mouthing. Asher has been shown be ready to fight when he's pushed (he's tried to fight Connor last season and tried to fight Frank this season). As goofy and doofy as he seems, that's NOT someone you want to antagonize in a moment like that 😫. Now, I'm a blind rage, Asher done turned that woman into a speed bump. With a body under his belt, maybe he really is becoming "New Frank" and don't even realize it 👀... And even after the fact of knowing that Bonnie pretty much hates him, she's still the one he called for help. Bonnie was also the one who called Asher before that to break the news about his father, so they do seem to still care about each other. The other Keating Kids are terrible because after all of this time, not ONE of them had Asher's phone number smh. They been bullying him almost the whole series so far, and they realize now how awful they are to him that they don't even have his number after working side by side day after day for months together. I love the way they play flashforward/present time this episode, and now we get a new way to play with time by putting in the timestamp. A lot of time placements and rewinding. The first time we see Annalise falling apart after getting a phone call as the rooming is spinning on her, we the audience are are unaware with what's happened. We see Bonnie pull up with Sinclair already dead in the trunk. Then they place the time and rewind. It was done so well with them immediately rewinding to jump onto the otherside to see what led up to that phone call and hiw Sinclair ended up in that trunk. So when we get back to that scene, we get the full extent of what's overwhelmed. Annalise being overwhelmed, hearing everything that's going wrong in that day so far resting on her shoulders to solve it. And it's interesting to see how easily it seemed for Bonnie to fall back into working with Annalise after everything that happened between them just days prior. Annalise wasn't considering that she would even hear from Bonnie considering she hadn't been answering her calls (the beginning of the previous episode showed how much that fight emotionally hurt them both). And Bonnie called telling Annalise what happened and she's asking Annalise for answers on what to do. Bonnie earlier this season told Annalise that she never let's her do anything on her own. She tried to take initiative with offing Rebecca, then again by telling Asher she killed Sam. Each time she got berated by Annalise for it. Now, Bonnie listing off the various things she could do to take care of Sinclair's body, and she knows how to take care of it, but she doesn't want to make any moves with Annalise's approval now. She doesn't want to scew things up. "I need you to tell me what to do". So, Catherine, Nate, Asher, and Sinclair were now swirling all in her head at once and she decided to concot a plan to take care of everything at once. Get Rainbow Eyes out of the way by telling him they're setting up a meeting with Sinclair and Catherine, bring Sinclair's body there, toss it off the roof to frame Catherine, to get Asher & Nate off the hook. Even though the crime scene doesn't match or make sense, Annalise hopes to cause so much confusing and chaos that it'd be impossible to figure out what actually went down. "It's for the cops to figure what happened". Problem is, everyone deep down knows it's not going to just work. Bonnie offered to the gun, but Annalise told Bonnie to leave it. Bonnie even paused and said her name, almost like she had an idea what Annalise was now planning to make it work. Bonnie leaves the gun and gets sent away by Annalise to take care of Asher. Still, Bonnie follows Annalise's orders. Those Keating Kids got a taste of how Bonnie gets down. She already had them on hush mode before she's had to. Now, they're just picking up a dead body, tossing them over roofs and quick to threaten a life to them together afterwards, and all in her cold, "calm" voice. She had Connor stammering and shook when she stormed down those stairs and threatened his life after he tried to leave lol. Little do they know that she meant it. I'm sure they're now seeing her in a different light. At least we know Bonnie Shmurda didn't didn't catch another body. To top off Annalise' crazy plan, Annalise decide to REALLY sell it. She calls the police at the last moment in front of the kids and report she'd been shot. My stomach would have DROPPED if I was in that room. And she made sure to make that call in front of the kids to make them follow through with it. There's no taking it back and if Annalise is found NOT shot, EVERYTHING falls through. From Sam, to Rebecca, to now Sinclair. Everything they've done to get away with what they've been getting away with can all go up in smoke at this moment. And one by one, they stand down, willing to go to jail than keep getting sunk deeper and deeper. Annalise was trying too. She knows her kids well enough at this point to know what can and will trigger them. Threatening Oliver (the way everyone breakout when Connor grabbed that gun 😄), Michaela's future, and Laurel's past with her father and her ability to protect everyone, and Wes' trigger point Rbecca (she tried to use logic on him, but it didn't work, so she went for his emotional sensitivity). Annalise is so good at knowing how to casually get under people skin, doesn't she? I want to make an interesting, quick note about Annalise and Laurel being "The New Bonnie". So, Bonnie had mentioned before about Annalise trying to shape Bonnie into being like Annalise over the years. When Laurel got promoted last episode, Annalise told Laurel & Frank that she thinks Laurel could be like Annalise one day as to why she was selected as "New Bonnie". It make sense as Bonnie and Laurel share some qualities. They're quiet, but not afraid to speak up. Very observant with watching other people, and not afraid to take matters into their own hands. Bonnie has a ride or die mentality when it comes to Annalise, (even despite they huge fight they had), and Laurel has shown that she goes ubove and beyond to save the group. Does Annalise really see Laurel as a "Future Annalise" the way Bonnie said Annalise once saw her, or does Annalise really see Laurel as a "New Bonnie", a future goon she can control on her team? The BIG test of filling Bonnie's shoes came down to taking that gun and shooting Annalise when she asked her to. Annalise even using whatever horrible thing Laurel's been through with her father (what's worst than purposely shooting someone?) As a way to motivate and encourage her to do it. And she ALMOST does it. When I first watched this, I really thought Laurel was going to do it, and it would have made perfect sense for her character to be the one to do it with the way her character had been set up as the K5 student who's lowkey constantly saving the day. Laurel reached for that gun to do it, but realized that it wasn't a line she could cross. We know OUR Bonnie would have most likely done it and Annalise probably would have been better off asking her instead (she probably didn't want to do that to Bonnie after the pain they put each other through just days prior was still fresh). Laurel wasn't the level of ride or die that Bonnie is. Maybe one day she will be, or maybe this was the eye opener she needed to see how deep she can fall into Annalise's dealings the way Bonnie is. Does she still want to be "New Bonnie"/"Future Annalise" after all of this? Then we get the line drop. "REBECCA'S DEAD, WES!" After seeing Laurel and Wes walking away, I KNEW she was going to say it as her last resort, but to actually hear her say it to him out loud was such an OMG Moment forreal. She'd been lying to Wes since the end of last season and she's so desperate, that she reveals the secret. She was so desperate that she didn't even think about the fact that Wes could genuinely kill her if he wanted to. And you can see the anger and betrayal because he KNEW Alnnalise had been lying to him and she'd had been gaslighting him this WHOLE time. Neither one of them were thinking with a clear head and the only thing that seems to stop Wes from ending her completely was Annalise whispering the name "Christophen to him. I was randomly saying that "Rebecaa is dead, Wes" line out of nowhere, complete with the dramatic arm reaching out, for months and my sister would get so annoyed because she had no idea what I was talking about, until her and her wife finally watched the series a couple years ago 😆. That ending with Christophe/Wes being questioned by the police about his mother's death, with Annalise & Eve watching. Eve drops the title of the episode, "What Did We Do?". Remember that conversation Annalise & Eve had about Wes two episodes ago? Eve: "He's the one you're protecting, right?" Annailse: "I don't want to talk about it." Eve: "I wouldn't either. It doesn't make any sense. All this craziness to protect some student?" Annalise: "He's not just some student. It's him." Eve: "No...You are a very good person." Annalise: "No. I'm not." Eve: "Fine, you're not. But I still get to think so." Rewatch it and I'll just leave it at that. Now, I gotta run and get this tier upgrade, so I can catch up to the rest of the season y'all have uploaded on us because the second half of the season gets even crazier 😄...
