Shields = clicking a couple buttons but you cant really do that when your being attacked on multiple fronts The big gun is just a regular Pulse laser Rifle in star trek though the design of rifles and pistols changes pretty much every series. Remember last episode they mentioned the being can suck the life out of people thats why equinox had so much trouble with them. I doubt Janeway wouldve agreed with him but it likely would cause a civil war aboard voyager in the early stages with the Maquis not full acclimated yet. Darth Janeway best Janeway :P 25:58 the reason Chakotay and the other Maquis split off from the federation is because the Federation made peace with Cardassians, meanwhile the cardassians were raiding settlements in the middle of the neutral zone(the peace barrier) So Chakotay getting mad at a federation captain for resulting to torture is well within character.
